Q:This poor little guy has been out on my balcony where I smoke my cigarettes for two days now. One wing is badly mangled and he can't fly away, I thought to just let him work it out yesterday in hopes of him healing on his own somewhere, but today he was climbing on my leg as if asking for help and I feel horrible for him now...he's suffering, he hasn't gone far in at least 24 hours I feel I should feed him and give him water until he heals...what do crane flies even eat?? Any advise aside of killing him and putting him out of his misery would be great!!: Take him to a wildlife reserve! He has a chance of life! Or a 24 hour emergency vets office would be good. You could call a vet to come to your house. It might be a little pricey, but the animal would thank you for it. If he is suffering too badly, a vet will make the decision to euthanize him. If you have any children at your house, do not allow them to see it. It does not make a child happy to see a bird in that condition. I would call your local vets office now.

Q:There are a range of cranes to be selected for a particular type of job. Please provide any suitable method so that we narrow down our selection criteria .: What is the load weight? How high is the lift? Obstruction, possibly needing a jib? If you are placing a load onto a roof, how far from the edge of the roof is the load going to be placed? How far from the crane pivot is the load on the ground and how far are you going to to move the load away from the crane to place it in position? How close can you get the crane to the load and to the load placement site. The usual scenario is to call a crane outfit and they will ask you these questions over the phone or come to the site and discuss the lift with you. A crane is rated for maximum lift as close, usually 10 feet,to the cab pivot center. As the distance increases, the maximum load that can be lifted, decreases. Our 15 ton crane can pick 15 tons/ 30,000 pounds at 10 feet from pivot center. With the boom fully extended; the boom is 100 feet, at a 30 degree angle, it can pick up only 5,000 pounds. Inside of every crane cab should be a chart that shows the lift capacity at various boom angles and boom lengths. Also is included is a chart for the Jib, if the crane has one. Wingman

Q:my father is owning a crane manufacturing business I hav given my ssc wat should I study after ssc IT, mechanical engg., design engg. and others (plz. specify) ?: Without being too critical, the first thing you need to do is improve your English so that you will be a huge help in the company whether in engineering or sales. Cranes require lots of engineering in weight handling (mechanical), automation and controls including instrumentation (electrical) and a tertiary field in engineering is in stopping and starting (clutches and brakes) which can be mechanical or hydraulic engineering. A new filed is metalurgy which is concerned with the way metals perform (stress), lighter,stronger, etc. Take your choice. Mpho

Q:What should I do with them? who would accept them if I donated them?: many childrens hospitals or orphanages will take them. if not donate them to goodwill and get a tax deduction. or you could give them to the salvation army. your call.

And i think it would be difficult for it to actually work unless you modified it so no if its a traditional origami crane, but if you work backwards and made the wings of the crane to resemble a paper airplane then i think its possible

Q:Why are there extra placards attached to the tower crane tower?: Because the span of the base is short, the tower is efficient, and the billboard is easy to cause the tower to overturn or bend.

Q:Do you believe in the 1000 folded paper cranes give you a wish?What is the entire process in it all?And can they be in another persons hand like if I make 1000 an a few are at my friends possession will it work?: I do believe in it, somewhat. Years ago one of my teachers who had cancer made 1000 paper cranes and then beat it shortly after. I'm not sure about the process, or how it works exactly, but I do think that I believe in it. she still has those paper cranes hanging up in her classroom.

Q:If I have one week, is that enough time?: It all depends on how fast you can make one paper crane and how many hours you have available each day. If you made 15 an hour for 10 hours each day (150 cranes a day) for 7 days you would have 1050 cranes. You will probably find that you begin to go faster, the more cranes you make. However, after 2 or 3 days you will get sore hands and this will slow you down again. It's easier when you work as a team.
