- Q: I have a tile floor in my kitchen, and I have tiles in both of my bathrooms, floors and shower walls. Whats is the best way to clean these with out removing the grout?
- Kaboom grout cleaner. Not tub and tile. There is to different ones. They both are very good. If you can find the Kaboom grout cleaner It will do all of it. Other wise use hot water and Just a cap full of the tub and tile cleaner from kaboom ,

- it kind of depends on the room its going in and what kind of contrast your personal style is suited to. that said, id go with a light grey or a light tan. if its in the a kitchen, go with a darker color that won't show stains as readily as a lighter grout color.
- Q: we have an outside toilet which has been removed and we are wanting to change the room in to a washing room. it is a brick out building and the brick has been painted, how easy is it to tile over this and how could it be done?

- Q: I am a big fan of tile in homes. I really love tile flooring and tiles in shower stalls, as it looks really nice and feels good on the feet lol. Is there any way to tell the difference between a porcelain and ceramic tile by looking at it after it is already installed? Friends of mine have tile in their kitchen on the floor, and I would like to be able to tell the difference by looking at it from an already installed view. This would also help for visiting other homes with tile, to better understand the difference in look and feel.
- Porcelain indicates the type of clay used to make the tile. Ceramic incorporates all clay tiles, including porcelain. There is no way to tell unless you look at the back of the tile. They often use glass tiles in bathrooms now, too. Ask an experienced installer for tile already in place or an experienced seller of tile if you want new tile.
- Q: I am doing my bathroom slate and i need a bullnose tile. I special ordered it at Home Depot and now they are telling me it is discontinued. I was wondering if anyone new of a web site or store that i could order this from because my bathroom is supposed to be started Monday and Now i dont have the bull nose... please help??

- Q: ive never tiled anything before. i was thinking of replacing our old tiles around the fireplace and puttnig in slate ones. i am wondering if its a bigger project than it seems. will i have to remove the mantle to do it. is it harder to tile something on the wall or fireplace than the floor? should i just seek a professional or is it easy?thanks

- Q: I am building a deck outside my living room am#92;nd the dimensions are 8‘ wide by 24‘ long.It is 14‘ up at the highest point as I am on a hill. I‘m using 2 by 6 joists with 2 by 12 headers. Here is what I want to do: someone told me to use a 1/4 in slope over 8 ft. for water run off. I want to tile the deck. Iwant to know what size plywood I should use and if there is some kind of waterproof fibreboard I can use as a base for the tile in lieu of laying down rubber for the base. I dont want sand or pitch due to the weight factor. Is there something fairly lightweight and waterproof suitable for a base for the tile? If so what is it called? and where can i get it? Thanks.
- In my opinion the installing of tile over a wooden deck will probably not stand the test of time, because no matter how well you water-proof it, moisture will eventually rot out your wooden support, causing the tile to sag, crack, or break. The moisture may not come from the top as it will be absorbed into the wood from below the deck. If you have your heart set on this and you're willing to replace it all one day, I'd waterproof the deck first. There is a marvelous liquid rubber-like liquid called Red guard that can be painted on with a brush- cover it well and don't miss any spots. When dry, screw down some concrete backer board- it comes in 3 by 5 sheets, and you'll probably be better off to use 1/2 inch thick goods, as you need the support and non-flexibility of the thicker goods. If I were doing it, I'd coat this finished installation with Red guard too, and let it dry before you start setting the tile.Make sure to use exterior grade thinset mortar the best quality you can afford, and make sure you get tile suited for exterior applications, because there is a difference. I think the most important thing that should be mentioned is that your deck needs to be very strong to support all this extra weight that will be placed on it-beef it up extra if you intend to do this. - There are a lot of steps to getting set up to lay tile, and considering that there must be a hundred websites out there that describe the process, with maybe a dozen of them doing a superb job of that, I'd suggest letting your fingers do the walking and skimming over a few of them until you find one you like.

- You can, but it is not recommended. Your tile cuts would need to be almost perfect in order to not look bad. Then you need to silicone caulk around the sink to prevent water damage to the original counter top.
