- Q: my check engine light just came on and i have some oil on the block of my engine, a friend told me that the valve cover gasket needs resealed. could that be why my check engine light is on?
- Most likely if you see oil on the block you need to re-do the head gasket which sucks but the valve cover gasket is usually not the reason for most leaks, could be at least i would start there most new cars have a rubber gasket which can be re-used if you have to open the cover. But yeah this can turn the light on depending on what car you have but for sure. Replace the valve cover gasket and see what happens, they are usually like $30.00 bucks or less.
- Q: My chevy s-10 pickup automatic is shifting rough from 1st to 2nd, gives the truck a bump when shifts. Tech says I likely need a valve body replacement. He also indicated I could drive this for a while if I wanted. What more can happen if I prolong replacement? Truck is still at a fair blue book value and I'm wondering if I should sell it now. I have been very lucky in not having to sink any $ aside from normal wear and tear into it, so for me to have it replaced is the first $ investment. I have 103k miles for 2000. Anyone else in a sim sitch, or having multiple problems at this mileage as well? I'm wondering if this is the begininng of the end?
- Chevrolet did have a bad problem with valve body wearing out the bore where the valve rides. I would recommend you replace the valve body too, unless it has high milage and the transmission has never been overhauled. Then I would say sell it now! They also have a problem with the reaction shell breaking or stripping and causing a no reverse problem. Those usually go out around 150,000 to 170,000 miles. So if your in that range, and you haven't had it rebuilt or you don't want to spend the money to rebuild it. I would recommend you selling it now.
- Q: im just bored so heres my question who do you think is better valve games (hl2 tf2 css) or bungie games (halo) and why. whoever gives me the best reson gets best answer. personally i like valve
- As far as I'm concerned, it is valve for its dedication to their havok graphics engine for the pc. While bungie has a great track record for the Halo series, it is in no way comparable to what is involved when creating a graphics engine. Just an example of how great it is, tons and tons of people still play Counter-Strike: Source (Halflife2 Multiplayer) even if it is not a next gen game anymore. And on top of that, there were no games available that could be compared to the first Halflife. It was a breakthrough in gaming to combine adventure elements with shooter gameplay. That's my reasons and I'm stickin' to it.
- Q: Electric Hot Water Tank Pressure Release Valve Leaking, Why?
- did you recently increase the heat settings or change a thermostat? an increase in temperature can cause the pressure relief to go off a little...but usually only when the temperature gets up there (160-180oF) which is uncommon for electric. Unless the valves are shut off above the tank, the piping system should handle any pressure increase in an electric tank. Do you have a buffer tank on the hot water side? (usually only when you have hydronic heat) it could be saturated or pre-charged too high. If none of the above are probable, you may just have a bad pressure relief valve, I've changed one before, had to turn off the cold water and open up a cold tap to let all the pressure out of the system, bleed off the hot water until the pressure valve didn't spit out when I opened it, unscrewed the plastic downpipe from the valve(some have it, some don't) and remove/replace it with some teflon tape on the new one (20 bucks or so from the home depot)
- Q: recently changed head gasket. could valves tap from the push rods being mixed up? they all seemed to be the same size and i know the other side was exactly the same when put back together but this side is mixed up. could this make the valves go crazy? and i need to replace my water pump because its getting very hot and no coolant moving. and everything is smokin up, took off oil cap and it was steaming. would that have anything to do with making the valves tap?
- Ok The push rods are fine. There is no order they go in. The valves are taping due to poor lubrication, also did you do a valve job before u put the gaskets on? Also Use STP oil treatment after replacing the gaskets its a thicker oil that lubes better. The water pump wont be ur only issue. it sound like there is some restriction in the cooling system, Firs check the upper radiator hose it should be hot not cold, check the reservoir its shouldn't be over flowing and make sure the V-belt is in good condition make sure there are no cracks in the belt. make sure The thermostat is installed correctly and Check the radiator it self if the radiator is back-up i recommend a new one if u cant affored it remove radiator and have i boiled out clean. Oh just for safe measure get a block test done just so u will know there are no cracks in the block
- Q: I've been working on cars since around march of 2012. I new. I have a set of 305 heads that were really dirty. It came from a 79 camaro that never had an Oil change. I took the valves out and the valves are pretty burnt. I was wondering If I cleaned them up would they still be good to use? The edges aren't rough or anything. Just let me know what is need to know please. The heads I know are still good.
- hey why dont you go down to your local machine shop and ask a few questions, try and angle a cleanup job to trade for labor and experience.in other words, why dont you go ask your dadlove that commercial
- Q: primary function of a valve position?
- I am within the equal concern as you are in proper now. What I do, is 1) get headphones and 2) shut your door (if viable). Additionally set the sport sound reduce so that you could hear when your mother or dad is coming. In case your mom would not mean you can play considering of violence like blood, there's a strategy to disable blood/gore create an autoexec.Cfg add violence_agibs zero violence_hgibs zero violence_hblood 0 violence_ablood 0 It sucks to have these kind of dad and mom If nothing else works, are trying different games reminiscent of diablo 2, or oblivion or anything. Just right luck!
- Q: My valve covers are leaking how do I take the intake off my v6 firebird?
- I think you are talking about the valve cover gaskets. This just requires the removal of the bolts holding the sides of the cover down. If it's actually the valve covers it will be the same thing but just make sure you get the new gaskets. Just don't over tighten the bolts or you could end up with a bad seal and they will keep leaking. You might as well just buy a $20 torque wrench if you don't have one.
- Q: Hi, in the heart, blood flows through the AV valves and enters the ventricles once the atria have filled up with blood. What opens the AV valves? Fluid pressure from the blood or the SA node pulses?
- The opening and closing of the atrioventricular valves is controlled by the differences in pressure across them: When blood passes from an atrium to a ventricle, the atrioventricular valve is pushed open (and the papillary muscles relax and the chordae tendineae lose their tension, becoming slack). At the next stage in the sequence the ventricle contracts. This forces blood out from the ventricle into the artery via which it leaves the heart. This contraction of the ventricle and the corresponding increase in blood pressure within that ventricle also presses the cusps of the atrioventricular valve together until their edges meet, closing the valve. At the same time, the papillary muscles contract and the chordae tendineae tighten - both of which also help to prevent the cusps from enabling the atrioventricular valves to open. When in the next stage of the sequence the ventricle relaxes and the atrium contracts, the blood pressure situation is reversed, the relaxation/tension of the papillary muscles and the chordae tendineae also reverses, and the atrioventricular valve allows blood to pass from the atrium to the ventricle again.
