Q:installing tile?
Tiles are OK for a change but which tiles? There are variety of materials offered in tiles like clay/ceramics, porcelain, PVC etc. You can segregate these into hard and flexible category. The wooden floors are semi-hard floors. They are neither rigid nor flexible but fairly closer to the flexible surfaces. Flexible floors can not take the hard materials like clay or porcelain tiles etc. they are fit for flexible materials like carpets, PVC, laminated boards or wooden tiles. For a mobile home with wooden floors carpets or PVC floors are the best. i will not recommend rigid flooring like concrete or ceramic tiling. You can easily find tile-finish PVC or laminated board flooring in variety of colors. Try some if you are fed up with carpets and looking for a change.
Q:Uneven tile finish on walls?
From what I understand, I'd install either waterproof drywall or regular which you can then seal. You can shim the drywall out where the gap is with furring strips. This will give you a straight surface to put your tile on. This assumes the drywall butts into a corner. You can't put tile on an uneven surface as it just magnifies the unevenness. You might be able to put a molding on to cover the gap. That sounds the easiest and cheapest. Take a picture and show it to some one at a tile store or at a hardware store and they might be able to help.
Q:An 8in by 8in area is covered with with 1in square tiles. Two of the 64 tiles turn out to by faulty.?
Break down the titles into 3 categories: - Corner tiles (there are 4) - Outer tiles that aren't corner tiles (there are 6*4=24) - The rest, on the inside (there are 6*6 = 36) If a tile is on a corner, there are only 2 possible other squares in the grid that it can share an edge with. If the tile is in the second category, there are 3. And if the tile is somewhere in the middle, there are 4 neighboring tiles it could share an edge with. The total probability that two random tiles share an edge is: ( P(tile is a corner tile)*(2/63) + P(tile is on end)*(3/63) + P(tile is in middle)*(4/63) ) / 2. We have to divide by 2 because we're counting each pair twice. So this is: ((4/64)(2/63) + (24/64)(3/63) + (36/64)(4/63)) / 2 = (8 + 72 + 144) / 2(64*63) = 112/4032 = 0.027777... EDIT: Right after I first posted this I noticed that the user above me got the same answer unsing a different method. I like his method better, but it would seem to be that the total number of unique pairs on the grid is not 64*63, but 64*63/2 because there are two different ways you can pick tiles to make the same pair (depends on which order you pick them in). So maybe the answer is 112 / 2016 and I missed something in my reasoning!
Q:should i tile my new shower ceiling?
I would indeed tile the ceiling. Just be sure the bathroom is well vented with all the hot steam in the room. Just search for good easy cleaners. simple windex on the ceiling? not much soap up there?
Q:How does the concrete on the tiles clean?
Water bubbles, and then use the clean ball can be washed off
Q:Floor Tile information needed?
The size is up to you like the 1st poster said. The area you have can dictate the size some what. If you come into a hallway setting that is only 3/4 foot wide, I d put in a 6x6 or an 8x8 tile if you can find that size anymore. If its more open a larger tile will work well, But 99% of the time a 12x12 tile will work out fine. I never cut carpet completely until I know what size I m installing. If you know the cut off point you can cut it short of that area, leaving 6/8 of carpet . You ll want to fold it back and nail it down to retain the stretch in the carpet. If this is a completely open area, fold back the whole capet and nail down with a 1x3 or similar size to hold the stretch. Then you can install backer board if your not on a slab. Then tile , grout and refit the carpet to the size you ve installed. You can save the tack strip and use again . You may want to consider paying to have a carpet installer to turn and tack the carpet back in. This is tricky for a novice. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:Help removing cork tiles?
Oh man I feel your pain! a.Get a razor sharp floor scraper and go at it. b. Get a paint scraper and scrub the floor like you would any paint. I think you get more leverage using a hand held paint scraper. c. Last case scenario use a non oil based solvent like Acetone, or Lacquer thinner to dissolve the glue. Be sure to ventilate well so you don't get a buzz from the fumes. Good Luck!
Q:How to divide the tiles?
The state of the ceramic tile by the tile level is divided into A, B, C and so on. 1, A level. Class A use of the scope of unlimited, can be used in various places of home decoration. So the environmental performance of indoor tiles must meet Class A standards. The standard for the use of tiles for radioactive use is GB6566-2001. Class A decoration materials in the natural radionuclide radium radium-266, thorium-232, potassium-40 radioactive specific activity at the same time to meet the IRa ≤ 1.0 and Ir ≤ 1.3 requirements for the A class of decoration materials. 2, B grade. Class B decoration materials do not meet the requirements of Class A decoration materials but at the same time to meet the requirements of IRa ≤ 1.3 and Ir ≤ 1.9 for the B class decoration materials. Class B decoration materials can not be used for the interior of Class I civil construction, but can be used for the outer surface of Class I civil construction and the interior and exterior of all other buildings. 3, C level. Class C decoration materials do not meet the A, B class decoration materials requirements but meet the Ir ≤ 2.8 requirements for the C class decoration materials. Class C decoration materials can only be used for exterior finishes and outdoor use. Ir> 2.8 granite can only be used for monsters, seawalls, piers and other human rarely involved. According to the national standard level, tiles can be divided into two levels: 1, A grade goods A grade is the best grade, A grade is divided into AAA level, AA level and A level, AAA level is the best level. 2, B grade goods Class B products are slightly flawed products. Whether it is tiles according to the radioactive or standard provisions of the tile, we can find different tiles or have their own different nature.
Q:can u lay household tiles outdoors?
You can, but you'll probably regret it after the first rainfall ruins them.
Q:Laying new tile in my laundry room help?
These tiles are self sttick, so no other glue is needed. However, the surface of the floor must be clean, dry, and smooth for the tile job to last. Be sure to follow installation instructions carefully. Personally, anywhere water is involved, (bath, kitchen, laundry,) the less joints that water can penetrate, is the better solution. Self stick tiles will no hold up to an overflowing sink or toilet.
