Q:I am intrested in buying solar panels to save a buck and even maek some money off of it but I was wondering what kind? How Much? How Many? Are they easy to install? Whats the best brand? I want alot of information on this if anyone can give me some help on it in a user friendly way it would be appreciated!

Q:our school spends around $0,000 dollars on energy.we want to know how much money would installing solar panels on the roof save our school.
I can tell you for a fact you can save money with solar panels. I have a system. I have a 3.74 kw dc system which cost $26K, I got a $0K rebate from my utility and a $2K fed tax credit. I will break even or get ROI in 6-7 years. My system generates about $2K of energy per year. The benefit of a school is most of the energy will be produced during the time that the students are using the facility so you may see a better return. I still use much of my energy when the sun goes down. All businesses get a 30% fed tax credit when they install a system, and many states offer larger rebates to businesses. There are many factors that will determine the efficiency of the panels, my orientation isn't ideal so that drops my production a little. Shade can reduce the number of hours a panel can produce. The number of hours of sunlight and the number of days it is cloudy can affect production as well. Your utility policies can have an economic impact, not all utilities allow the meter to run backwards or buy back the excess energy you produce, most schools are out of session during the longest most productive days. The biggest problem for solar is the large initial payment, without grants or loans it is unlikely a school would have the money to put up a large system. There is no need to zero out the bill, even a partial system can save money.
Q:I heard that solar energy has a lot of advantages but are there any drawbacks in using the solar panels?
The largest drawback is the upfront investment you have to make for solar panels. There are some programs that allow you to finance the panels through your property assessment called PACE and leasing programs that can alleviate the large upfront cash outlay. Solar Panels have a lifespan of 30+ years. Since there are no mechanical parts, there is very little maintenance required. After 0-5 years, you will have to replace the inverter which converts the energy from DC to AC. This is a small cost in respect to the whole installation. The panels clean themselves well with just normal rain. With all the great federal and state incentives, the payback on solar is at it's all-time best. In Massachusetts, for example, the payback right now is 5 or 6 years -- then you would be making money for the next 25+. Another big potential drawback is that you must have the right site for solar to begin with. I'm a solar installer and I can tell you a lot of houses might not be right for solar. The best orientation is south, while southeast and southwest can work as well. The space must be unshaded and it would be best if it had few obstructions like chimneys, etc.
Q:Interested in buying solar panels to save on electric bill.Any government help plans?
I live in Ohio so I'm not sure if this is nationwide, but in Ohio there are grants you can apply for if you're investing in alternative energy for your house. I would look into those grants if they're available in your area.
Q:A local air conditioning company is advertising combining their (newly installed) central air conditioning system for homes, with roof solar panels. They say that the combination MAY reduce your electric bill. Nothing I can see to back-up their claims. Hmmmmm. And they offer, if you can get it; central air conditioning that runs on natural gas. Again, possibly cheaper than using electricity.Has any one actually tested to find out if solar panels and/or natural gas DOES, or DOES NOT save you any money to make it worth the bother?
Don't do it! It takes years to get your money back. Your better to put the money into insulation and or buying geo thermal unit. I knew someone who install solar panels on his roof to generate hydro and he didn't notice much of a change on his hydro bill and then he had roof problems . Central air units in last 2 years have become very efficient . Almost half the hydro of ones 0 years ago. If you can afford buy a geo thermal unit. It uses the heat of the ground in the winter 2 heat your house during the winter and the coolness of the ground to cool your house. They aren't cheap though. If you plan on living in your house for more than 0 years and have the room in the yard to install then go for it. No how you slice it though AC units use way more hydro than solar panels can produce. You would need about half a football field with a huge battery storage system to run a AC unit. When a company states you might on hydro I would stay away. Also remember they do not tell you about the costs of the upkeep on the solar panels and converter and batteries
Q:Mono-crystalline or poly-crystalline solar panel?
All solar photovoltaics drop in efficiencies with higher temperatures but it isn't the 45+ C you have to worry about but rather the heat from the sunlight striking the panels. There are hybrid systems which passes water in pipes attached to the back of the solar panels to cool the panels and preheat the water for solar thermal collectors. The difference between mono-crystalline and poly-crystalline are that mono-crystalline are more efficient and more costly to make.
Q:Can solar panels be installed on community buildings?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on community buildings. In fact, community buildings like schools, libraries, and community centers are excellent candidates for solar panel installations as they often have large roofs or open spaces that can accommodate solar arrays. Installing solar panels on community buildings not only helps reduce electricity costs but also promotes sustainability and clean energy in the community.
Q:Do solar panels require a specific orientation or angle for optimal performance?
Yes, solar panels typically require a specific orientation and angle for optimal performance. The ideal orientation is facing south in the northern hemisphere and north in the southern hemisphere, to maximize sunlight exposure throughout the day. The optimal tilt angle depends on the latitude of the location, with a general rule of thumb being the angle should be roughly equal to the latitude. However, modern solar panels are designed to be flexible and can still generate electricity even when not perfectly aligned or angled.
Q:i need as many bad things there is about solar panels
If it is cloudy out, the solar panels won't pick up any sun, therefore they won't work. Also, not all areas actually get a lot of sun, so solar panels would only be useful in certain places.
Q:I am moving to Hawaii and the house we are living in has independent electricity. (solar panels and gas powered generators.)
You would have some kind of thing that captures the kinetic energy and transfers it to electrical energy so it would run, but, yeah.
