- That solar panel puts out about amp (in round numbers). If you are talking about a 20vac outlet, you'll have to send the output of the solar panel through an inverter. That brings it up to 20vac. 20 watts at 20 volts means you'll only be able to draw 0.6667 amps. With an inverter at 85% efficiency, you'll only get about 0.4 amps. That would barely light a CFL. 20 watts of power at 7 volts = amp (in round numbers) 20 watts of power at 20vac = 0.6667 amp (in round numbers) Power (watts) = current x voltage. If you increase voltate, you must decrease current to get the same watts. Watts is the common denominator in power measurement.

Also note ,there are state and federal grants that can help ease the capital cost. Energy demand keeps going up so expect our current rates to double. People who have alternative forms like wind and solar will have the advantage when this time comes. Just think of when the US had it's oil crisis in summer of 2008, people with small efficient vehicles such as Prius's didn't feel the price increase like the people who bought cheaper large SUV's.

- the solar panel should state it, you dont need a inverter to charge, only to use the power from the cell.you do need an amp regulator, so it tells if the battery is on full charge and so the sun doesnt over power the battery through the solar panel

If scientists used heat sensors to find the hot spots of trees and trim all of the leaves that don't quot;providefor the plant, then maybe that trimmed tree could be used to become a solar quot;panelquot;. I believe that each individual leaf could be replaced by a small solar panel and the wood of the tree would be wiring that would root all of the solar panels to a generator.
- solar panels do not use generators, but i like your idea, very creative.though i don't see the practicality of this being used commercially, i think it would make a great solar promotional piece though! off-subject, it is time we stop looking at the upfront costs of things and start looking at what the long term costs are. most green-technology, although expensive at first, end up saving tons of resources and actually increase profits of businesses! studies show that people who work in a green building tend to be happier which benefits health, more excited to go to work due to the business's environmental ethics, are more productive because of natural lighting, and are more efficient because more work is getting done. green buildings can actually boost the efficiency of a business! thus saving tons of money and reducing tons of waste. Doesn't this just make sense to you?
