Benefits of Solar Power:

Following to RMI, Balance-of-System (BoS) elements, this is, non-module cost of non-microinverter solar modules (as wiring, converters, racking systems and various components) make up about half of the total costs of installations.

For merchant solar power stations, where the electricity is being sold into the electricity transmission network, the cost of solar energy will need to match the wholesale electricity price. This point is sometimes called 'wholesale grid parity' or 'busbar parity'

Specifications of Mono Solar Panel

Average pricing information divides in three pricing categories: those buying small quantities (modules of all sizes in the kilowatt range annually), mid-range buyers (typically up to 10 MWp annually), and large quantity buyers (self-explanatory—and with access to the lowest prices). Over the long term there is clearly a systematic reduction in the price of cells and modules. For example in 2012 it was estimated that the quantity cost per watt was about US$0.60, which was 250 times lower than the cost in 1970 of US$150.

Real world prices depend a great deal on local weather conditions. In a cloudy country such as the United Kingdom, price per installed kW is higher than in sunnier countries like Spain.

Q: Hello Yahoo, I am doing another one of my wacky inventions however I need something that will give me 2V of power!I don't want to connect loads of AA batteries into a battery holder as this shall run out quickly and become expensive in the long run, I don't want to carry around a big car battery either.I have been searching around on OKorder .uk and found some Solar-Powered 2V Trickle Chargers. These say they shall work on cloudy days (which is perfect as the majority of the time that is all we get!) but could I use it as an independent power source? If I attached the thing I want to run to the solar panel will it supply it with 2V of power?
If you want to run something from a solar panel, you should remember that the power from the panel is only available when there is reasonable sunshine on the panel. Usually the solar panels are used with solar regulators in order to charge batteries. These batteries are used as energy storage for when the sun is not shining. Now, this does not mean that you cannot drive instruments directly from the solar panel and regulator. To do this, you will need a panel that has sufficient power to drive your instrument. An example is the solar powered garden or fountain pumps. I have driven 2V computer fans directly from the small solar panels - useful for cooling of things such as pool pump housings. The solar regulator is used to convert the solar panel output to a 3.5V output in order to charge lead acid batteries. I have used MPPT regulators (maximum power point tracking) which is more efficient than the standard solar regulator. If you don't use these regulators you may find the solar panel producing up to 7-9V in good sunshine which is not good for your instruments that are expecting 2-3V. Hence the answer to your question is that you will need to have a battery being charged to get useful power from the solar panels via a solar regulator.
Q: Hey i am going to build a scale model house and demonstrate how you would use solar panels to provide energy. I am thinking of buying some kit solar panels and wiring up some lights to show how they power the home. Also i might hook up a battery in the house to show how you can store the energy. I might also have a large battery hooked up outside the house to represent a power plant that could provide emergency power. Any ideas or comments would be great. Thanks
you have the right idea, but forget about so many batteries cause solar power replaces them. get some small solar motors and use them for ceiling fans, try some small xmas light in a box behind a picture to look like a tv screen, use the small solar motor to demo an exercise bike and use a 00 watt or better light bulb to power your solar cells in place of the sun. that would demo the idea best without the use of batteries. i really hates batteries, but i love me some solar. i am a solar engineer and i think that light is the most amazing element in our universe. solar energy was the first source of power on earth and it will be the last. oh, did i mention that it is also so very very free. in fact, solar energy is so free that one can not even buy a handful of it and one can not even steal a pocket full of it. aint that something to think about and to post on your project just for a fun fact!!
Q: Hi, I have in my sailboat 2 2 V batteries. I would like to buy solar panel(s) in order to recharge them. As i am in mexico and there is always high sun . i think it is a good idea.Usage of the batteries is very light . I have found 5-2V pannels with 80mA that fit in the sailboat. I want to know if and how i can have like 5 to 0 of them set together to charge the batteries and what other material would i need.also, i would like to know what happend if the pannels only send on 5V in a 2 V battery? Is it still charging but on 40 % of the capacity a 2 v pannel would charge or its just not doing nothing ?
I don't know what you have avilable to you down there, but if you were in the states i'd say go to a camping supply store they have lots of solar options out today. check one link below
Q: How long does it take to recoup the investment in solar panels?
The time it takes to recoup the investment in solar panels varies depending on several factors such as the cost of the panels, installation expenses, local energy rates, and available incentives. On average, it typically takes around 6 to 10 years to recoup the initial investment. However, with decreasing panel costs and increasing energy savings, the payback period is continually improving, making solar panels a worthwhile long-term investment for many homeowners and businesses.
Q: Can solar panels be used in disaster relief efforts?
Yes, solar panels can be used in disaster relief efforts. They provide a reliable and sustainable source of electricity, allowing for the operation of critical equipment such as lights, phones, and medical devices. Solar panels can be quickly deployed in affected areas and can help reduce the reliance on fossil fuel-based generators, thereby reducing pollution and the need for fuel transportation.
Q: i have this usb solar panel charger i am building and the solar panel is about 2by .5quot;, so i was wondering if a led light can power it, if so will one be good or would i need more? if so how many?
While I understand Search's answer, because it was also my first reaction, am I wrong in thinking that this is some sort of science fair project, for which you need to power a solar panel indoors as though it were being illuminated by the Sun? The question at least makes sense in that context. Solar panels provide modest power even from room lighting, sometimes calculators are powered by small panels, but that is a tiny amount of current. . You'll probably do better by asking this question (a bit more clearly) over in Engineering. It's not really an Astronomy Space question, though there may be some crossover between the two groups of users. Meanwhile, while some white LEDs can be pretty dazzling to the eye, I don't know how much actual power they are pulling down compared to what you'll need the panel to generate, but I don't see why it shouldn't work. I just don't know how many LEDs you would need. . .
Q: So I want to go completely solar. Do I need the connected solar panels alone for after sundown hours; Do I need something else in order to have energy to run my entire house throughout the night? In other words do solar panels store the energy for after sun-down or do I need other devices to store the energy?

Q: first of all, to be honest i have totally no idea on how a solar panel works.my task is to design something like a solar powered street lamp which store sun energy during day time and convert it into electrical energy then light energy so that the lamp can work during night time.any ideas on how to design the solar panel? which can store enough or more enegry in case there is no sunlight another day. and low cost as well :D

Q: Maximum size of solar panel i have to use is - 8 * 5 feet - this is the limitation given to us.
A short answer is: 500 watt hours can be obtained with a 3 foot by 3 foot photovoltac panel in any 24 hour period with average conditions. Some 24 hour periods will fall far short of 300 watt hours even with the 5*8 foot panel, but a battery that stores several thousand watt hours, will likely give you 300 amp hours 362 days per year, with the 5*8 panel except very unfavorable locations such as Nome, Alaska, USA in December, and January. Nome is quite favorable Spring and Summer if you rotate your panel to keep it facing the sun up to 24 hours per day. Neil
Q: Are there any safety precautions to consider when installing solar panels?
Yes, there are several safety precautions to consider when installing solar panels. Firstly, it is important to work with a licensed and experienced professional who is trained in solar panel installation to ensure proper installation and minimize the risk of accidents. Additionally, it is crucial to turn off all electrical power and follow proper electrical safety procedures before installing solar panels. Adequate fall protection measures should be in place, especially when working on rooftops or elevated areas. It is also important to consider the weight and structural integrity of the roof to ensure it can support the panels. Lastly, proper grounding and wiring techniques should be followed to prevent electrical hazards.
