Q:Ways to damage steel?
Your best bet would be a grinding wheel attached to a small electric motor. Even if you slipped, your skin is too soft to be cut by the dull wheel. Steel, however, is easily cut. But perhaps you don't have access to electricity or pressurized air to run such a tool. In that case, a simple file would work well, though you'd be somewhat more likely to injure yourself. If you had no tools, but access to whatever chemicals you wanted, you could try a weak acid. This would take a long time, and require constant scrubbing to bring fresh acid into the pits in the metal, but it would eventually eat through the collar.
Q:what is stronger Tempered Steel Blade or Carbon Steel Blade?
1. all steel blades are tempered, whether they are high carbon blades or low carbon blades. 2. It depends on what kind of steel they are made from. So im going to answer this question, using the following qualifications. 440A stainless steel 440C stainless steel - high carbon. The higher the carbon level, the more brittle a blade becomes. But the higher the carbon level, will increase a steel’s wear resistance , meaning it will have a better edge retention 2. They both will work well. Pros's / Con's The 440C blades will need less sharpening, but are harder to sharpen The 4401 blades will need to be sharpened more, but are far easier to resharpen. So it basically comes down to where you will be using them and how you will be using them. If your gonna be out in the middle of the jungle and stopping for the night, then the high carbon blade would probably be better, you use it all day, resharpen it at night. If your gonna be cutting brush, tobbaco, etc on your land, then the 440A would be better, because you can take a couple of min's to resharpen it often

Usually a hot working grade ( H series ) tool steel is used in die cast mold detail tooling. We typically use H-13 for our applications but have substituted with D-2 on occasion.
Q:Why should I use stainless steel cookware?
Stainless steel has some benefits: 1) Dishwasher safe: my anodized aluminum pots are NOT dishwasher safe (my wife put one in and it lost its gun-metal gray finish - sad) 2) Conductivity: most stainless steel cookware has an aluminum (or copper) middle - this transfers the heat nicely - steel by itself does not conduct heat evenly. All Clad cookware refers to the fact that the aluminum within the cookware is clad in steel. 3) Aesthetics: stainless is pretty. Stainless is not anti-stick, so you'll have to use all your skills to avoid sticking. 1) Use oil or butter: heat your pan before oiling. Once to temp, add the oil/butter and wait for it to heat-through. THEN add your food - sticking should be minimized. 2) Move your food around a lot: once you add a piece of food that is likely to stick, move it shortly afterward. This will prevent the food from gluing itself to one spot in the pan - a crust will start to appear, and that will protect the food from sticking. 3) Love the fond: anti-stick pans don't have a good chance at fond development (fond is the stuff that sticks to the bottom of the pan, and is crucial to pan sauce creation). You should experiment with your cookware, or send it to me: I am wishing for some new cookware.

Q:How does water cooling affect the hardness of steel?
Quenching results in smaller grains than air cooled. This means more boundaries, which means harder steel.
Q:Can steel oxidize?????????
Yes - Steel can oxidize, its most commonly called rust Steel is a metal. Depending on the level of oxidation, you might be able to polish it with very fine steel wool. If is is really bad, then you might need a chemical cleaner such as Naval Jelly, which can be found at the hardware store. But the Naval Jelly might discolor the metal, so then you might need to polish it afterward to return its finish.
Q:Does the factory choke on my rem. 870 handle steel shot?
No problem. With steel shot you would use one choke size LARGER. If you want a full choke type pattern ( 70 % in a 30 inch circle at 30 yards ) you use a modified choke. if you want a modified pattern use the improved cylinder. Don't use the full or extra full. This is because when using lead shot it deforms, and fits through the choke, steel shot does not deform, it remains rigid. The first indication of a problem will be a slight bulge in the barrel right behind the choke. Check that once in a while, if you ever have that problem, it is not drastic if caught early. Today's modern shotguns all have been set up for steel shot. The old ones such as Belgium Brownings, are a no go. Funny thing, when we first began importing steel shot, I asked a Browning Tech guy if he thought I could fire steel out of my Belgium Browning. He said not a good idea, however, if you have the Citori or other Japanese made Brownings, no problem. Hummm, my expensive Brownings, no, but Japanese made OK, this is because the Japanese steel was higher quality. Geeeze. I was shocked.
