Q:With no moving parts, no fuel piping and so on...
ITS TO DO WITH THE PRODUCTION PROCESS
Q:I have a playstation PSP charger that is 5v 2A, so it takes 0 watts.I have several small solar panels that put out watt a piece and are 4 volts, 250mAhow can I get my 0 watts to be 5v 2A instead of 4v 250mA? the voltages have to match up right?also, what's a 3-T regulator that controls voltage?
The first item is whether the psp charger output is ac or dc. IF, AC then you are stuck as the panels put out DC. (Increasing the voltage enough to cover invertor losses is not practical in this instance!) IF DC, then you need to combine panels to produce 2 Amps, after which it is run through the 3 terminal VOLTAGE regulator to limit the voltage to 5v. That is 8 panels in parallel in 2 groups placed in series = 2amps at 8 volts, then add regulator for 2 amps at 5v. (Parallel increases amps, series increases volts.) Total panels required is 6 panels.
Q:My house uses 500 kw a month, air conditioning is the main consumer, is it possible to install solar panels in my roof to produce this amount, and aproximate cost, thanks .
here's the cost 50 KW-hr per day. Depending where you live, there is a chart showing the average expected amount of energy from a solar panel based on the panels peak rating. Lets use 5 hours as an average. This means you need 50 kw-hrs over 5 hours or 0 kw of peak performance. The cost to install a complete grid tied system is running from $6 to $9 per watt, depending on size and how your house sits. Typically, for a system this size, $7.5/watt or the total cost is $75,000. The federal government and some state on local government pays part of the cost. Your net cost will be $50,000. If you put $50,000 in a 0 year CD, you'd earn $250 per month in interest. On the average, a 500 kw-hr bill will run $225 per month. In my town it runs $50 and I'd need a larger system because I get less than 5 hours on average. So I'd earn $275 in interest. In CA, your electric bill would be $300.
Q:I'm looking for some advice on hot water solar panels. I'm trying to save some money on electricity. A neighbor has been suggesting solar powered equipment for some time now, and I think he's right. It does save quite a bit of money in the long run. They're kind of expensive though, so I'm looking for cheaper alternatives.
If you are just looking for hot water, you can build your own water pre-heater with copper tubing, mirrors, black engine paint, wood for an enclosure, and glass to cover the enclosure. I have seen plans online but cannot recall just now where. I've included some links below that you might want to check out. Also, you may want to check on tax rebates in your area for using solar. In some areas you can get rebates to pay nearly 00% of the cost. Or search for how to build a solar water heater for a LOT of online sites. One caution, do NOT use water directly from a solar water heater as it can be hot enough to burn your skin.
Q:Can solar panels be used to power air conditioning or heating systems?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power both air conditioning and heating systems. Solar panels generate electricity by converting sunlight into energy, which can then be used to power various appliances and systems, including air conditioners and heating units. This allows for more sustainable and environmentally friendly ways of cooling and heating buildings.
Q:I've been figuring ways to keep water thawed out this winter, and this bucket seems to be the easiest thing. What kind of set up (solar panel) would I need to feed this 260 watt heated bucket?
Unfortunately solar panels are low output, generally only 2 volt and very low amperage,so you would need to build a multi panel array with a DC-AC converter all together costing several hundred dollars which would only work during sunlight.Just roughly figuring, about $800. Plan2-Solar charger, battery bank, and DC-AC inverter so it would work 24hrs a day, also several hundred $$. Solar power does just not seem feasible(to me)in this application.By far the cheapest set up here would be an extension cord fromhouse to the bucket.260 watts per hr is a fairly lightweight draw, even not figuring the thermostat's cycling it on and off as needed.Electricity is sold in kilowatt hours(000W/hr).This bucket would use(not allowing for thermostats control lowering it)appx 6000watts or 6KW per day.Depending on your electrical cost per Kwh it would cost very little to run.(In my location appx 50cents a day) or appx the same amount as my computer(325watts total)) Note that that would be a maximum rate, and would actually be less due to thermostat cycling off and on as needed.
Q:Can solar panels be used for street lighting?
Yes, solar panels can be used for street lighting. Solar-powered street lights use photovoltaic panels to convert sunlight into electricity, which is then stored in batteries for use during the night. This renewable energy source helps to reduce electricity costs and carbon emissions associated with traditional street lighting systems.
Q:Can solar panels be used in remote areas with no access to the grid?
Yes, solar panels can be used in remote areas with no access to the grid. Solar panels generate electricity from sunlight, which can be stored in batteries for use during nighttime or cloudy days. This off-grid solar system allows for a reliable and sustainable power source in remote locations, providing electricity for various purposes such as lighting, charging devices, and powering small appliances.
Q:How could I find out what the amp output of a solar panel? Specifically, I want to know how many milliamps can the solar panel on a Casio fx-260 put out?
You need full sunshine from the sun, or a lamp that will give a light spectrum similar to the sun, a volt meter, Milli-amp meter, and a variable resistor of 0 to 000 ohms. The voltmeter test leads go across the solar cell leads. The amp meter leads will be in series with the solar cell. Let's say, positive lead of the solar cell to the the positive lead of the amp meter, the negative lead of the amp meter to one terminal of the variable resistor, and the wiper terminal of the variable resistor to the negative lead of the solar cell. Slowly decrease the value of the resistor until the voltage from the solar cell just begins to drop. Take note of the amp meter reading. This is about the high end range of the solar cell. You might want to begin with a micro-amp meter for the current meter.
Q:Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of dust or sandstorms?
Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of dust or sandstorms. However, frequent and heavy exposure to dust or sand can reduce their efficiency over time. Regular cleaning and maintenance are necessary to ensure optimal performance in such areas. Additionally, advanced solar panel designs and coatings are being developed to mitigate the impact of dust and sand accumulation, making them more suitable for use in these challenging environments.
