Q:I recently bought a Cold Air Intake System and installed it, But when i did i had to unplug my MAF Sensor. Which obviously caused my car to vibrate and soon die. But what i want to know is what do i do with the MAF Sensor Plug-In with my New Intake System.

One of my pet gripes is that the emission control system in most cars will not say what is wrong, just that something is wrong. If you live in the US outside of California you can take the car to most auto parts chain stores (like Auto Zone) or to Aamco Transmission and they will read the code for free, and try to reset it if the code is temporary. In California only authorized auto service shops are allowed to do that. no comment on the sensibility of that.

Poncho on certain models of the 1999 silverado with the 5.3 liter engine these models have the A.I.R. system.This secondary air injection reaction pump and solenoid pumps air into the exhaust manifold to clean up the emissions.Your going to need to have the dealer or local auto repair shop in your area check the pump and solenoid operation and find out which one is not working.The ones that been in my service dept most of the time the pump is working but the solenoid gets stuck and causes poor air flow that causes the service engine soon lamp.Best of luck with your silverado.

Q:Recently my tail lights have quit working. My brake lights still work.Recently my car was acting kinda weird. When I would use my turn signal for the first time, it would auto lock the doors. That stopped after about 4 days. then, when I turn on my lights, the fasten seatbelt light flashes and buzzes at me. Last weekend that stopped after about 4 days.I have checked the fuse box, the fuses under the hood, and the wires connecting to the tail light unit.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. sure just buy the size appropriate for the grinder ive put cut off abrasive wheels for masonry and metal on my two older circular saws they sell them in packs cheap at home depot near the tools look for the size for the grinder 5 inch i believe

Q:ok so i have a 2005 chevy aveo basic model (automatic, no power windows or anything). the fuel pump went out and we just go tit replaced by a family friend who is a mechanic and long story short i just got it home and as i was driving it home the check engine light came on. i dont know if its just because of the new pump and i just need to give it some tine or what. the car runs strong and there is nothing else mechanically wrong with it. so is there a way to reset it or does anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance :)

If you go to Autozone or Advanced Auto they will come out and scan it for free and tell you what the code is. My guess is P0456 e-vap system leak low Could be a gas cap or, He had a bunch of hoses off when he did the job. Vacuum leak of some sort-

Q:an emissions control leak (small). im not sure of the exact code. they told me to get a new gas cap and i should be fine. so i did and the code came back on. i went back and had them turn it off twice and it is still coming back on. what does this mean and how much would it cost to fix it? thanks.

I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT (same engine). When you put the gas cap back on after filling it up, are you tightening it enough to make it click at least 3 times? If not, that could be your problem. If you do that and it still doesn't go away, take it to a repair shop for an estimate -- NOT a dealer. Dealers will charge you top-dollar and do piss-poor work. The last emissions control problem I had was a bad EGR valve, and that cost me about $350.00 to get it replaced.
