- Q:I have a HP compaq laptop and a few months ago I started having a problem where my laptop sleeps/powers off when I plug in the power cable. The computer runs fine on battery but as soon as the charger cord goes in the screen goes black and the fans stop but yet the computer is still on.If the charger is plugged in when I switch on my computer I just get a blank screen. I have tried replacing the battery and the cord, changing the power settings, hibernate settings, taking the battery out etc.It's really annoying. Please help!

- Q:recently i purchased an imac G4, it included everything)keyboard,speakers,mouse ect.) but, it didnt come with a powercable. i knew this when i bought it, but thought it was a standard connector,i was wrong, it is a 3 pronged connector, I have a cable that will fit, but it is only 2 prongs, (it's missing the ground pin) . i only can return this item in 4 days if there is a problem with it, i could buy a powercord, but i risk it not coming in time. Can i use my 2-pronged power cord just to test it's funcionality. (fans,chime etc.) without the computer catching on fire of any other type of failure.Chris
- It's an ordinary 3-pin PC power cable. Any desktop, screen or printer should use one. If you don't have one, you should be able to easily find one for ?5.
- Q:Apparently my computer has a 300 watt power supply. I am wanting to purchase a new graphics card but apparently in order to get a better graphics card then my existing card, Geforce 8400, I need a larger power supply.What will I need to purchase to increase the power supply to 500 watt and is it really worth buying all this? I am thinking I might aswell save up a bit more and buy a new computer.Any help apprietiated, thank you.
- There's nothing you can buy to boost your existing power supply - you have to buy a complete new one. Luckily though power supplies are relatively cheap. You can find a 500w supply for around $30-60.
- Q:THE PROBLEM IS THE POWER CABLES HAVE 20 PINS AND THE ENTRANCE OF THE MOTHERBOARD HAS 22! SO HOW DO I HAVE TO CONNECT IT?
- Your motherboard probably has 24pins (ATXv2.0+ spec). Your 20pin supply is an older model. You can purchase a 20pin male to 24pin female connector for about $5. Check online, eg. cyberguys, OKorder, etc.
- Q:I'm going to be running 1/0 gauge power wire in my car. My amp only accepts 4 gauge. Is it better to run 1 the whole way through and use power cable adaptors to fit the amp or run the 1 gauge into a distribution block that sizes the output wire down to a 4?

- Q:I had a power outage and I fixed it and now my cable wont work. The cable box is on it's just that there is no picture and not even the control can make it work. Can anyone figure out a way to help me with this?
- Cable modem for internet access or cable box for TV. Whatever. Unplug the effected device. Wait 10 seconds and plug it back it. Let it boot. Try finding channels (if cable box for TV) then. You may have to tune your TV to channel 3 or 4 or also do a channel search. Check the directions on your TV manual. If this is your cable modem, turn off PC, unplug cable modem, wait 10 seconds, plug in, wait till you have green lights, turn on PC. You should be good to go. T
- Q:I have a two year old HP Compaq 6710s laptop, and since yesterday, the second I plug in my power cable, my CPU usage goes up from a normal amount to 100% immediately, making my computer really really slow. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Do you think there's something wrong with the cable or the computer?
- In most laptop configurations there are things that are setup to run only when the laptop is plugged in. For example, antivirus scans, adware scans, and such can be set so that they only run when plugged in. It is possible that the unit has been unplugged for awhile and the system suddenly recognizes its plugged in and all the software tries to run thus bogging it down. This is only a hypothesis. The best way to know for sure is to check the Task Manager to find out whats hogging everything. If you don't know, you can open the task manager by either doing CTRL-ALT-DELETE and selecting task manager or by going Start-Run and type in 'taskmgr'. In the window, the applications tab should show what apps are running, the Processes tab should show you all the processes and their memory consumption, and the Performance tab should show you all your memory and CPU untilization. I would start with the Processes tab and see what is consuming the most memory. You can sort by size by clicking on the MemUsage column heading. The processes with the highest memory are the ones to start with. ALso check the Applications tab and see what is running at the time. I would check these while running on battery, and then plug the system in and check them again to see what is different. Whatever has changed is most likely the culprit.
- Q:I have a white Xbox 360 system (elite maybe). I have it hooked up to a 26HD TV in my room. When I have friends over to play, we like to move the xbox downstairs to a 52TV so we can play split screen mode without squinting! The unplugging of cables creates such a hassle, and I was wondering if it was possible to use another AC power cable and more video cables downstairs so I only have to move the console itself. Can someone tell me if this will work if I purchase another set of cables on OKorder and or give any specifications about what need/should buy?Please help, and thanks!
