Q:How to calculate power cable size, tell me formula?
There are two issues to consider, cable heating and voltage drop. Of the two, voltage drop is by far the easiest. You need to determine what the allowable voltage drop in you cable is. The voltage drop is just I x R where I is the current and R is teh round trip cable resistance. The specification of 100 kW isn't enough. If its a high tension 100 kV line, the current is only 1 amp and a run of 16 AWG wire would deliver about 99,999 volts out of the original 100,000 volts to your load. If its a 100 volt system then a 4 AWG wire would only deliver only 20 volts to the load. The formula for wire resistance (in AWG) is that 10 AWG has 0.001 ohm/ft. Each increase of 1 in the gauge increases resistance by the cube root of 2 (about 25%). You calculate by picking what voltage drop you can live with, for the known current figure the resistance, knowing the length figure the resistance per foot, and then pick the AWG using the above. The second concern is wire heating. Although you could do the heat transfer calculations, instead look up the allowable ampacity for any wire in an electrical engineers or NEC handbook.
Q:what causes cable fire?
A very high power surgeon could cause it. Very high current transfer of a short circuit could cause burning of the cable. Power cables have materials which have very high resistance (rubber materials mostly) but could burn in a not very high temperature.
Q:My PC wont start until I unplug the cable?
did you check the power cord and socket . because if it is a problem of power supply unit (psu) in your cpu cabinet than the whole system wont start.

1. People come to see the performers not cables. Keeping them out of sight makes a better presentation and is safer for the performers. 2. Keeping the power cables away from the audio cables is just good practice. Low level (mic and line level) signals from mics and instruments are no match for high current power cables. The high current power cables produce magnetic fields that can induce hum into low level audio cables. Balanced cables, ones that use 3 pin XLR connectors are better than unbalanced RCA or phono plug audio cables. In the real world audio cables do have to cross power cables. When this happens try to cross them at 90 degree angles. Try to keep power and audio about a foot apart if possible. You may not be able to do this 100% of the time, but the better you run your cables the better the sound will be as far as hum is concerned. Hope this helps. D.bumstead

The power cable you need will come from the computer's power supply (PSU - power supply unit), and look like a larger version of the SATA data cable (wider). You connect both cables and let it go. Some older model SATA hard drives have both the SATA power connector and a 4 pin Molex (usually white 4 pin power connection from PSU/power supply. Hope that helps.
