Q:Hey i am going to build a scale model house and demonstrate how you would use solar panels to provide energy. I am thinking of buying some kit solar panels and wiring up some lights to show how they power the home. Also i might hook up a battery in the house to show how you can store the energy. I might also have a large battery hooked up outside the house to represent a power plant that could provide emergency power. Any ideas or comments would be great. Thanks
you have the right idea, but forget about so many batteries cause solar power replaces them. get some small solar motors and use them for ceiling fans, try some small xmas light in a box behind a picture to look like a tv screen, use the small solar motor to demo an exercise bike and use a 00 watt or better light bulb to power your solar cells in place of the sun. that would demo the idea best without the use of batteries. i really hates batteries, but i love me some solar. i am a solar engineer and i think that light is the most amazing element in our universe. solar energy was the first source of power on earth and it will be the last. oh, did i mention that it is also so very very free. in fact, solar energy is so free that one can not even buy a handful of it and one can not even steal a pocket full of it. aint that something to think about and to post on your project just for a fun fact!!
Q:can i put a solar panel on a projector. if nt wat is a low energy projector that i can watch movies and play games on
Unlikely to prove useful. Solar panels don't generate very much current. You would probably wind up spending several thousand dollars, and wind up with a solar panel array (including batteries and power inverter) that is certainly not portable. You will also need adequate current for your projection source (ie DVD player or computer), as well as sound. By and large, the cheapest projectors require the least amount of power. There is no way around the fact that, for a projector to be practical, it must output out a great deal of light. Adequate light requires adequate current.
Q:Does any one know how to make a solar panel or a type of Alternative energy maker. Best answer gets 0 points
Though wind energy is the big thing at present, and I derive a significant part of my income from doing engineering on these wind farms, I personally prefer a wood-fired boiler steam turbine generator combination as the best renewable energy system. Wind generation works great when the wind blows, but if you intend to go off-grid expect to invest in energy storage and some other form of backup power. Solar photovoltaic panels are about 6% efficient at best, and that's only when the sun is shining brightly. If you consider that trees (biomass) are a completely natural, renewable energy resource, and couple this energy resource with modern clean combustion technology, this makes for a great dispatchable, long-term sustainable, ready-when-you-need-it solution. Go wood!
Q:If a solar panel (using 36 3x6 solar cells) puts out 60 watts, how many panels would I need (for a house) if I use a max of 2300 kWh in a month? I checked my electric usage for the past 2 years and the kWh is usually lower but I wanted to use the most kWh used (2300) for my question. Thanks!

Q:i dont wanna buy a solar panel becuase its too exspensive, i dont want use technical stuff i want to use every day materiels, but i need to know asap plzzzz.
I'm afraid you can't just make a solar panel with things just laying around the house. They require some specialized materials and techniques to create. Just buy what you need.
Q:I mean when light hits the solar panel where does the energy go and what does it become? Be specific.
Visible light from the sun is in the form of photon before hitting the solar panel. In a silicon solar panel, the photon is caught by the semiconductor material. Energy equivalent of the photon is then used to excite an electron from the semiconductor molecule. The aggregate of free flowing electrons form the current in a closed electric circuit. The efficency of conversion from sun light to electricity is not 00%. The majority of light energy hitting the solar panel is dissipated in the form of heat. As technology advances, the conversion efficiency is improving, hence reducing the cost of solar energy.
Q:i was reading the popular science magazine and i saw that they might make a Sun Powered it Absolutely NOT possible to make a car with a Solar Panel? I dont see any harm in making it..
it's possible, but the oil company don't want you to, besides solar-powered cars need to be quite big to have those panels mounted on to provide the needed power, thus it'll take up alot of space on the road. they can't be as powerful as gas-powered cars in terms of speed hauling power. maybe they should make 2-seaters for city users, that'll cut down on the pollution ease up the gas prices. of course, they can make a hybrid car that uses an alternative power, like gas/solar or dry cell/solar to solve the problem... parking-meters with a power-plugs for you to recharge while you park.
Q:For my exam in science we are required to make a power point explaining why it would be good for our school to switch to solar. our complete handout given to us by our teacher is as follows:Power Point to include:. What you propose for alternative energy usea. Any thoughts on energy conservation...2. Why this is a good idea3. What information you would give the solar company (area of roof space your group determined to be useable for solar)In PowerPoint - include your quot;scriptof what you would be saying when the slide is up in the Notes section below the slideANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICIATED!!THANK YOU SO SO MUCH,QH
Refuse to do the work on the grounds that it is not good for your school to switch. If the teacher tries to give you an F, escalate the problem to the principle and then the local news agency. Teachers are not allowed to force brainwashing.
Q:So, I've seen cheap solar panel kits for sale from Harbor Freight, and regardless of whether or not I were to buy a set from them or someone else, I was wondering what the process of implementing a small-scale solar system into your household electrical system would be.I've read articles that started out too in-depth or were speaking of systems on a much larger scale. Can it be as easy as buying the panels and inverter, and plugging it into a socket, or is there more to it?Some of the articles I was reading had mentioned having to contract with your electrical supplier, having to have an electrician tie it all in in some special/ necessary way, using a battery pack (would this be necessary for a tied-in system?), or using the system to only power single items, like a water heater, or plugging items into a connected battery-pack, all of which I'm not sure is necessary or needed for what my goals/ means are/ would be.
Grid tie inverters are expensive, but you might find a used one cheap on E-Bay, Crags list. Almost any grid tie inverter will work as you are thinking low power, but it likely needs to be 50 hertz or 60 hertz, which ever you have, and 230 volts ac or 20 volts ac which ever you have. It will work for a range of dc voltages, so your solar panels need to produce voltage near the center of that range. I considered buy the 3 PV panel set of 5 watt panels that Harbor freight sells. but I did not determine if the three panels can be conveniently connected in series to produce about 50 volts at light loads, or 00 volts if you buy two sets. You probably do not need the load controller, that comes with each set. I think most grid tie inverters automatically adjust to the dc voltage you supply them, unless it is below some minimum such as 50 volts. It is illegal to connect ordinary inverters to the power company, but they will probably not notice a small system unless you burn your house down. Most inverters will phase lock with the power companies frequency, but they are not designed to do that, so bad is likely unless you connect a resistor such as 0 ohms at 00 watts in series with the ac out of the inverter. If the resistor smokes you should disconnect promptly, then try again to see if you can get phase lock quickly. No smoke, likely means you are one of about 000 co-generators on the electric grid, You can short out the resistor with short piece of very fine wire which will hopefully melt if something goes wrong, such as the power company not sending electricity for 0. seconds or longer. Nearly all inverters have an over load feature, so the thin wire is a back up. Please be careful as people sometimes don't survive an electric shock at 20 volts.
Q:Is it good? ( solar energy)
Solar panel is one of the best sources nowadays to generate electric energy using the sun rays that comes from the sun. But, this set can be so hard to find and it’s very expensive to buy.
