I am trying to replace the window switch for the driver side and forgot the order of the wires. Can anyone hlep me.
The switch should just unplug from the harness---if you took the wires out for some reason, you'll have to check a wiring diagram or another Firebird or Camaro to figure out the correct pattern.
I am buying my sister Interior Underdash lights for her car, but it says it requires a quot;hard wire installationbecause it does not come with an on and off switch. What exactly does that mean? Will the lights turn on and off according to whether the car is on or off? Also, what is a hard wire installation?
Hard wire means it's not just plugged in. eg. using the cigarette lighter but instead is permanently wired in. All you need to do is wire the lights ground wire to any ground wire under the dash eg. ignition ground or radio ground ( wire will be black ) or directly to a screw that goes into any metal part of the chassis and wire the lights positive wire to either the accessory wire from your ignition (lights come on when car is on) or a constant power wire eg. radio power wire and wire in a toggle switch so you can turn the lights on or off at will.
I am changing an outside light with a inside wall switch there is 2 cables going to the outside box. ( 3 wires -white w/red line wire and black wire and green ground wire ) other cable 3 wires is white wire and black wire and green ground wire.On the inside switch is 3 wires white wire a black wire a green ground wire.for some reason it is not working, can any one tell me how to wire and or test for power. thank you
Sounds like, cable #1 is coming from the Service Panel. The white ( with red line?) is the Neutral and connects to the white wire coming from the light fixture. The black is the Hot and connects to the black of the other cable set. The grounds all connect together and a pig tail should be fastened to the box if it is metal. The white wire from the other cable set should have black tape wrapped around the end to re-identify it as Hot and it should connect to the black wire coming from the light fixture. At the switch, connect the black to one terminal and wrap black tape on the white wire end and connect it to the other terminal. The ground should connect to the green ground terminal and if it has a metal box,pig tail to that.
I am in the middle of changing my thermostat and I am so lost on where the wires go! Anyone who knows anything please help.My old system was labeled and hooked up like this:White Wire (W)Red Wire (R)Blue Wire (B)Green Wire (G)Now I am looking at my new system and these are the spots that I have:(G) (RH)(RC)This has a red wire attached like a jumper wire(Y/O) (W/B) (Y1)What wires do I plug into where? Please re-post with the wire color next to where it should go.
Based on normal practice It doesn't appear that you have air conditioning, only convential/gas heat. And the thermostat you bought is for air conditioning and heat pump systems. It likely will still work, you'll have to read through the book to see how to program it for convential heat in the installer set-up Red wire to (R) doesn't matter which one White wire to (W) Green wire to (G) Blue wire to nothing, the blue wire was your common wire which is required to make the old thermstat work off power from the unit, the new thermostat runs on batteries and doesn't have the option to run off power from the unit. Note: turn the power off to the unit, touching red and blue together will short out the transformer
i have my wires installed by a professional, and i wanted to put an taco switch to run to my amp, if i run a taco switch will it be okay? and with messing up the wires that he already ran would it screw it up?
why do you need a taco switch on the amp. im assuming that the amp stays on 24/7, if it dues that was not a professional that did the install, you need to connect the ( remote wire) from the head unit to the terminal on the amp (-B)
i Have a problem with my xeno portable dvd player..the ribbon wire inside is damaged..can somebody tell me where to buy a ribbon wire?
Electronic parts stores carry ribbon wires, but there are many different kinds of ribbon wires, and they would have to look at the wires in the dvd player to know what kind you need. The biggest problem with the wires is connecting them to the circuit boards. An electronics repair shop might have a piece of ribbon wire they can adapt to fit your player. .
My home is wired for the thermostats with two wires (red and white). I have acquired a new thermostat that requires a Red, White, and Common wire. Using the white wire in that position will power the unit up but it won't trigger the heat. Is there something that can be put in line that will allow this thermostat to work without rewiring the house?
Connect a new piece of 3 wire to the existing 2 wire and pull it through the wall by pulling the 2 wire. Of course if it gets stuck you will need to measure how far you pulled to know where to cut a hole in the wall. Cutting a hole in the wall if needed, isn't a big deal you just put the piece back, screw or nail it down (cut so you have studs on both sides to reattach it later) tape and plaster and paint.
putting new plug on wire. which wire connectswhere?
The wide prong is neutral and should connect to the white wire. The narrow plug is hot and should connect to the black wire. If the wires are not colored black and white and are instead in a traditional flat insulated power cord with an indentation between the two wires, feel both sides for a rib on one side that isn't there on the other side. the ribbed side is neutral. For a pair without a rib, but where you can see that one wire is copper colored and one is silver, the copper color is hot and the silver is neutral. Same goes for the screws you attach to on plugs or outlets not marked hot and neutral, copper or gold color usually is hot and silver is neutral. If all screws are the same color, this does not apply. Anyone can wire the existing system backwards or inconsistently, so do not rely on the convention for safety issues, just observe it for your own work and correct problems when you find them if you can do so safely. If not, consult an expert.
