Q:Carpet and pad to be provided. No carpet to take up or furniture to move. About 130 yds plus set of stairs. Tack strips are needed. Concrete floor.
a lot of places offer whole house installation for $99 or $199. It would take a day or two to do a whole house, but they make the money back on the carpet. if you have a home depot or lowes near you, look for an offer.
Q:i spilled tea all over my beige carpet and non of the carpet cleaners are getting it out :( help!
Professional okorder to locate one near you. Do not use bleach or any other laundry products as you may damage the carpet dyes, permanently.
Q:My husband had grease from the shop on his shoes and walked on my beige carpet. Now I have small little strips of grease on the floor. What is the best way to remove it without killing my carpet
This Site Might Help You. RE: carpet stain, help walked in automotive grease? My husband had grease from the shop on his shoes and walked on my beige carpet. Now I have small little strips of grease on the floor. What is the best way to remove it without killing my carpet
Q:I have a puppy that is a year old and she still isn't fully potty trained(shes a lot better than she used to be, but still has accidents) plus i have a toddler and normally have many other children here- leaving spills and stains. So for the past year I have used my carpet shampooer A LOT but am now concerned that it may have mold under it or in the padding. my mother keeps telling me they aren't a good thing to use and they will create mold. So I am wondering if it would be moldy and if so how I can get rid of the mold? Thanks!:)
There would only be mold if it was sopping wet and never dried.
Q:I have a brand new rug that is less than a week old. Every time I lift it up and sweep I have piles of white fine powder. That,s at least 3 times a day. Does anyone know what this is. I 'm thinking of taking it back.
I work in a carpet workroom and if the rug is new it probably is the backing which is drying out. The backings in synthetic rugs are attached with a water base latexed glue for the most part. If you like your rug what I can recommend is that you have a secondary backing put on instead of using a pad. If the rug is going on a hard surface I would have a nonskid backing put on it but make sure the latex it on and not use aerosol. That will give your rug a lot of stability, keep the corners from curling, protect your floor, and also keep the carpet from continuing to powder. The backing should run you about $60 dollars. I dont know what the return policy is on the rug but just to make sure it can be done I would take it to a local carpet workroom have them look at it and make sure they can do it, not all workrooms are experienced as others. That way if they dont think tey can do it you might return it for another rug before your time expires to return your rug.
Q:Does anyone have any links to a SPECIFIC area rug that will go with a black sofa? I have an apt with medium brown wood pallette floors, and white walls. ANY help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Q:Well, my mom placed some rug doctor in my house, and I'm having shortness of breath, stuffed nose but no snot, and my head kind of hurts, and what can I do to stop it?
Kookie: By rug doctor I am guessing that you mean she cleaned the carpets in your house with the rental carpet cleaning machine made by the rug doctor company. If she used their cleaning solution, it might be that you are reacting to the chemicals in the carpet cleaner. Lots of cleaners use formaldehyde. If that is the case, you can try a couple of things #1. Re clean the carpets using only vinegar and water #2 Treat the carpets with zeolite powder to absorb the chemicals If you are not familiar with zeolites, they are volcanic rocks that are used lots of ways. Because they are negatively charged, they trap and absorb most chemicals and organic odors (those are generally positively charged). You would want to use some crushed up zeolite so it can get on the carpet fibers and get the chemical absorbed. I'll give you some links to read about formaldehyde and zeolite. The vinegar would work as well, but your house is going to smell like a salad for a while. Good luck!
Q:The carpet will go in a finished basement. The basement has bare concrete right now.
There probably won't be a preparation other than cleaning, but you need to be sure the floor is pretty dry and likely to stay that way. If you have never seen water or dampness on the floor- good. If you have seen dampness, you have a potential for mildew. Be sure the carpet you buy is all synthetic. If there are any natural fibers in it, the materials will hold water and promote rot. Most carpets of today are all synthetic. The tack strip is nailed directly to the concrete. Pad is taped into place, and a few people use a string of adhesive to help hold it in position. The carpet is installed just as it would be upstairs on wood, but the labor is a bit higher. Some carpets are glued down, all that requires is a moisture proof adhesive; again- fairly normal.
Q:We just bought a nice silk rug from a wholesaler, and its 8x11. Since we bought it, it has been shedding like crazy. Is it normal? And how can you tell if it is handmade or machine-made? We bought it for $350.
Are you sure its silk? A real silk rug machine made in 8 x 11 will be over $1000. Handmade more like $3000 to $30,000. Its more sounds like a mercerized cotton rug. They look about the same. The cotton rug shedds more. Is there a label on the back of the rug with any infomation. Manufacture ? Country of manufacture? Any information will help to track it down. Post it and I will help. Two easy tests: rubb the rug with the palm of you hand, if it feels warm it may be silk. cool its cotton or rayon. One of the best tests is the burn test. Pull a piece of the yarn from the face. Just one will never be missed. Burn it, smells like burning hair, silk. smells like plastic, rayon. Smells like cloth, cotton. Also real silk is very, very strong. Cotton and rayon are must weaker.
Q:I just moved into a new apartment and used the wrong cleaner to pick up a spilled drink on the beige carpet and bleached it. Anyone know of a stain or a dye I could use to get the color back?
oops! okorder IF the rug is cotton or similar plant fiber. If your rug is poly fibers, toss it... no amount of dying will stay.
