Q:I recently blacked out and fell onto the floor face first, causing some moderate rug burns. I'm wondering if I should be concerned about scarring, and if so what I should do to prevent it. I've been keeping a coat of neosporin on it constantly so far.: Regarding the rug burn, it does not look like a very deep wound from the picture. Most scrapes are shallow but painful because a large area of skin is missing. Shallow wounds do not usually scar. My brother went headfirst over the handlebars of his bike about 6 weeks ago and had some really nasty scrapes, some of which were moderately deep, and he didn't scar at all. Just keep it clean, wash it daily with soap and warm water. Keep using the neosporin as well. That will prevent infection and keep it moisturized; both of those things will help speed up healing, and the faster things heal the less likely they are to scar. Once it's all healed there will be some residual redness in the area for probably 3-7 days, but that isn't scarring and it should go away. Regarding you passing out, I would advise a doctor's visit. Getting light headed when standing is called orthostatic hypotension and it has a number of possible causes; some of them are fairly serious, such as a heart problem. Your orthostatic hypotension, plus now an unrelated episode of fainting indicates some sort of underlying problem. Better to go and get checked, just to be safe.

Mold grows when high humidity is present, normally on wood or paper, which would be the food source. You do not mention what type of spills took place on your carpet, or if you have pets. Homes with pets are among the dirtiest homes on the planet. Urine stains that penetrated the carpet, carpet pad, and made it to the wood floor, will harbor bacteria living in the alkaline urine salts. They become active during high humidity conditions and produce ammonia type odors. Unfortunatly, people attempt to spot spills and stains from their carpet with out regard to proper cleaning procedures, they leave the cleaning solution and the spill in the carpet, wipe with a towel, when the solution and spill shoiuld have been rinsed/extracted from the carpet fibers. Every pro does the rinse/extraction process or they would be out of business. My suggestion, replace your carpet, carpet pad. seal the floor where it is contaminated with whatever and start over with new carpet. Have your new carpet professionally cleaned yearly with the hot water extraction process. Carpeting is a big investment, take care of it in the future.

Q:Does the carpet make them sound better? Or is it to protect the cabinet? Or is it just because it looks good?: Not all of them are carpeted. In fact, I don't think I've seen any carpeted ones in many years. Old Cerwin Vegas, had carpeting as I recall. Anyway, it's just cosmetic. The carpeting doesn't show road wear as much as the Tolex vinyl coverings.

Keep your house very clean - dust and vacccum every week. See if this helps.

I assume, if you have 3 rugs with areas(R1, R2, R3) then I wonder if the combined area is R1+R2+R3 = 200 or R1R2R3=200 (since R1+R2 =24). when you say the area covered by exactly two rugs is 24 does this mean that the RUGs are separated. Do you want to know the area of the RUGs overlapped or separated.
