Q:Tile flooring.?
Tile is better in my opinion than linoleum. I don't know about videos, but there are instruction manuals where you get your tile. Everything you need is pretty much in the same area as the tile. The only thing you need to remember when laying tile is; make sure you leave no space( not even pencil size) between each tile, do not get the tile wet for (they say 72 hrs.) at least 4-5 days (this is my advice). You want to make sure that it dries and seals thoroughly. With linoleum you are taking the risk of it seperating and warping (which happens very easily). The instructions on linoleum says do not mop or walk on it for 3-5 days; when truthfuly you want to stay away from it for 7-10 days. If living in the home this is impossible!!
Q:Just replaced some 3/4 Ply in bathroom. Can I tile right on top of that or do I need an underlayment?
I would put down a backer board of some sort. It goes by several names, but cement board is one generic version, I think. Hardi-backer is a brand name. When I did my bathroom floor, I screwed down quarter inch boards, and tiled over that. Check carefully to see that you don't end up with a finished floor height that interferes with doors. Also - you may have to extend the height of the toilet flange so that you get a good seal, as the wax ring may not be enough once you raise the floor level.
Q:Does anyone have a textured tile floor?
Is this ceramic tile or place-and-press linoleum tiles? The latter have a shine layer that can wear off, then the rest of the tiles act like a sponge for any bit of dirt that comes along; there are products to re-seal it if that is the case. For our textured ceramic tile floor we use lemon ammonia and hot water solution. The ammona cuts just about any kind of soil, including grease, and rinses clean. There are sealers you can apply to the grout lines with a small paintbrush to keep the grout (which is porous) from becoming stained and soiled.
Q:Tile on top of Laminate flooring?
Go to a store that sells flooring pick out what you like then ask them for advice. You do not have to purchase that day so tell them you need to save money and may have to do the job yourself. They should be able to tell you on the floor you pick out if you can install that type or if you need to pick out something more user friendly
Q:Can I install vinyl tiles on top of existing vinyl tiles?
Wow, okorder.com I have installed over 250,000 square feet in both residential and commercial.
Q:How difficult is it to install bathroom floor tile? What tools will I need?
It depends on the size of the bathroom and the size of tile you are installing. Generally speaking installing tile is realativly easy, the hardest part will be cutting the tile without cracking it. As far as the tools there are not many needed what you will need to do is measure the area you will be doing, and visit your local hardware store where they can help you figure the amount of tile and other items needed to complete the job, most hardware stores will have brochures to help you complete the project.
Q:Which one is more expensive all together tile or wood floors?
It depends entirely upon the type and quality of tile (glazed porcelain will typically be less expensive than stone or travertine), or if you are installing real hard wood, or laminate, where you buy the tile/laminate/hardwood (an outlet, home depot, costco) and if you are doing it yourself, or hiring it done, which will of course automatically make it more expensive if you hire it done. Once you decide the look and feel you want for your room or house that may help you to decide further. I hope this helps!
Q:how do you cut a circle on Porcelain tiles? help please.?
Maybe take them back to where you bought they along with the medallion and see if they will do them for you. NOt an easy job!
Q:Our newly installed tile back splash looks wavy.?
Spacers are not always needed if these are sheet mounted glass tiles. If individually set tiles then yes they are needed.. Some sheet mounted tiles ( either ceramic or glass) are not set absolutely straight and need to be checked. The best way to check if they are wavy or not straight is to use a straight edge or with 2 people use a string and stretch it out along the grout line. Another possible thing is that your glass isn t all the same size and gives it a wavy look.. This does happen in both glass and ceramics. In this case if the grout line is straight thats all a tile person can do. Not defending the person , just giving some possible explanations. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:Which is generally cheaper? Wood or tile floors?
Laminate can be cheaper but wont last as long. If you shop around ceramic tile is better in the long run. If you are a diy'er it can be cheaper than laminate.Laminate transitions are very expensive, usually two thirds of the cost of the project when transitioning from laminate to carpet or tile.
