- Q:Just wanted an idea. We are looking to redo all of our bathroom countertops from tile to granite. I cant decide if I like the above the counter sinks or to place the sink below the countertop. Below is much more expensive. About $200 per cut. Anyway, any suggestions? Thank you.
- I love the look of the above counter sink. I think it is elegant looking. If you get a nice one, that is a beautiful look. It is a bathroom and would look fabulous with a sink in either the marble or a brushed pewter look.. Good luck.
- Q:both the sinks are flooding from the drain up. there is crap in the sink from the drain. its disgusting! and to keep it from overflowing i have to just pour the water out with a cup into the tub. help please!
- Get a bucket place it under the P trap under the sink. Remove the compression nut on the trap and loosen the one holding the pipe in place at the wall. Drain the trap and if the line is full let it back drain into the bucket dump it in the toilet instaed of the the tub. Why the toilet ? It handles aoil and paper on a regular basis, the tub doesn't. There fore the tub drain is prone to clogging just as bad as the sink., Clean the trap out with hot water and scrub it out with a flexible brush. Run a sink tape down the drain and give it a few hardy turns and work it in and out of the drain pipe. This will dislodge most clogs and then just reassemble and flush the sink with Hot water.
- Q:Our bathroom sink is leaking where the trap meets the pipe that goes into the wall. How can we tell what size the pipe is? What special tools (if any) are needed? Thank you.
- Most pipe is sized by the inside diameter. I'm guessing 11/2 inches coming out of the wall,that's code. I'm also guessing you need a pair of channel locks that open up to the size of the fitting with the big threaded nut that ties the trap to the pipe coming out of the wall. If this is the case tighten that nut, if it still doesn't stop the leak there is a large plastic or rubber washer under that nut you have to replace.

- Q:Is it normal for my cat to enjoy laying in the bathroom sink? I am worried because she is still so tiny i'm afriad she might hurt herself from getting up there or even getting down. She's already fell in the toliet once (which was kinda funny)
- it's cool... (I mean temp) I had one who did that... and another who laid in the tub. so it's pretty normal. Keep the lid down on the toilet and she can't fall in... OR WILL LEARN from falling in already. PLEASE have your cat spayed/ neutered (p.s. I say this to everyone...not just you)
- Q:We just bought a mobile home and upon moving in we noticed that there is a burn on the bathroom sink, we did a tour of the place a few weeks ago the previous tenants were still living there so it had to of happened in the last couple of weeks it looks as if they left a straightener or curling iron on it and it burnt the sink to the point of the plastic melting and now it looks awful! I really don't want to replace the whole sink but I'm afraid that may be the only way to deal with it, it wouldn't be such a big deal if it was in our master bedroom but this is in the secondary bathroom where visitors will be going to the bathroom, anyone know of any kind of filler we can use to fill in those holes and dips so it won't look so bad, then maybe I can paint it and you will barely be able to notice?????
- There is no way to fix such damage. Replace the sink. In future ALWAYS put a condition in the written Offer To Purchase that allows a 'last minute' inspection (after occupants are out - the day before the deal closes). Real Estate Agents HATE that kind of conditional offer and will move heave and earth to get you to drop it. Sellers hate it too. Stick to your guns and insist upon it. If you'd had that condition in your offer for this purchase, you'd have discovered that burn and been able to cancel the deal if you wanted to do so. You'll also be in a position to demand that the sink be replaced immediately ( DO NOT accept a 'promise to do so' later. ) or to demand a healthy discount on the price. I've had RE Agents tell me that they can't put a condition like that in the Offer To Purchase. That's pure BS. You can put any condition you darned well want into an offer. Obviously, if it's a ridiculous condition, your Offer will be rejected, but a final inspection is perfectly reasonable if the place is occupied when you first inspect it.

- hi from new zealand. what the hell substance wasit???. right joking aside! get a garden hose with a bit of pressure..thread it thru window and put hose nozzel in drain...with a towel wraped around nozzle with pressure applied firmly......and whistle to mate to turn on tap.(hopefully pressure will unclogg drain.

- I would not use bleach, this won't due anything. I would stick a clothes hanger or snake down it. You can also undo the p-trap and clean it that way if it can be unscrewed. Zep liquid heat works really well. If your drain pipes are old and made out of metal pipe you might have to remove the drain where it enters into the wall and clean the pipe with an auger or cutter bit.
