I know they sell different 'weights' of the pad, but i wanted the thickest possible pad so that it can be very cushy. So, is it possible? you can not put 2 layers of padding on top of each other. for one thing it will bunch up, and it will also void your warranties from the manufacturer. try looking for a good 8 lb 7/16 inch pad. you really don't want that much bulk under the carpet, it will cause it to pop off the tack strip, thereby losing the stretch. it will also be like trying to run the vaccuum over wet grass. f you are using a berber carpeting, you want to use as firm a pad as possible.

Q:I purchased an old wool, floral patterned, pile area rug (approx. 8' x 10') at an auction. It needs cleaned and there is not a professional cleaner in my area. Can I clean it with a traditional steam cleaner using cold water? If so, what about the beater bar? Do I need to diconnect that so I don't fuzz the wool? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I am a pro carpet cleaner and have been in the business for 10 years, do not take your wool rug to the laundry mat and do not use your steam cleaner on it. Wool is a very delicate fiber and can therefore be easily damaged. I would definitly see if there is any professional carpet cleaners that will come and pick it up from your house. If your area rug is not to expencive however you may be able to get away with just using the steam cleaner with no beater bar and just water, but if it is expencive the the only way to go it to have a pro do it.

I can suggest this. I think the best thing is to dampen it a little . You did?t say how large the carpet is, If it?s a wall to wall carpet , the wrinkles should have come out when it was laid, But if it?s a large centre carpet then with a damp sponge go over it and rub outwards.Or turn it over and stamp on it pushing your feet outward?s. I have successfully replaced carpet at far below retail quotes by purchasing what is called seconds. Depending upon your location, look for a carpet store in your area that is the largest wholesale store. Call them and express your need to obtain x sq ft of carpet at the lowest possible price. If you get an invitation to come look and see what they have that will sell in your price point. Go, they are in possession of at least a few choices for you. I don't know the sq ft of your home, so I have no idea if 2K is just a dream or could be a reality. Best of luck

Try the dollar store or Big Lot's store. We have the same issue and I put two way carpet tape under the thin throw rugs. You can also use velcro tape with the glue side down, but keep it taped past the area where the door gets opened. I know how you feel and it gets annoying when your throw rugs get dragged because the door catches on it. Hope this will help you.

The carpet has a very small T in layering, tile edge, careful worker, and then came the carpet the carpet is pressed into the T bar, also should be careful to do, just to cut the carpet, because the note is very small, cut a little bit will be exposed.

Get it washed by a professional or rent a machine. You could also mask the smell with all the freshners..They dont get rid of it they just hide it.

No. The fur will turn into a lumpy, matted mess. Take it to a dry cleaners. They'll charge you about $20, but it will come back like new. I had a small sheepskin that I got for my dogs to lie on and, of course, they got it pretty stinky. I washed it in the washing machine and it came out all matted and tangled. I also had a larger sheepskin rug that I sent to a dry cleaners and it came back like new.
