- Q:what is concrete amd cement used for?
- It is great to see that one (Richard) out of the other three answerers knows that cement and concrete are not the same thing. All of the suggested things that can be made out of concrete are accurate, except for the suggestion of cement patios. (There is no such thing as a cement patios or sidewalks even in Tenn.) The only thing that is made out of cement is concrete which also needs small and large aggregates, sometimes additives and water. For those of you that want to say cement is also used for brick and block mortar, wrong again, that is not cement they are adding. It is really rather easy to remember, cement is soft, concrete is hard.
- Q:How much cement board should you put in an alcove shower/tub area?
- === cement board in the entire shower area and waterproof that with walls of tile === the green board is to prohibit the growth of mold in the bathroom and if you have gutted the entire room then it is best that you do the walls of the bathroom with green
- Q:cement board subfloor question?
- Cement Board Underlayment
- Q:How do I stop sweating cement floors?
- There a difference between hydrostatic pressure and moisture in the air causing the dampness. Hydrostatic pressure comes from below ( as Don said) and of course the other is in the air, which can be removed w/ a dehumidifier. The other , I haven t heard of anything that will really stop this. Other than basic landscaping to shed water away and to have your cement floor perimeter cut open and drainage tile installed. To find out which one is your problem, dry off an area of the cement w/ a fan and tape( duct tape) a 1ft x1ft pc of foil on to the cement . Leave for 24 hrs, and if you have a lot of moisture after that, chances are your getting water from under the slab. No flooring , other than ceramic flooring, should ever be put on this type of cement w/ this problem. You ll waste your money. GL
- Q:Could desert soil be used to make marine cement?
- Caliche is a hardened desert soil (rock) that is typically near the surface. I would think that you would end up digging a lot of desert to get much carbonates. There would be a large amount of heavy equipment use, lots of dust, and lots of lost habitat. Typically cement is produced by exposures of limestone that are ground down and converted to cement. I would think this would generally be a more economical and more environmentally friendly option. Since you apparently have a chemistry background, you may already know this, but cement is generally made by taking calcite or dolomite and heating it up to create lime / cement. This has been done since the Roman Empire. I have never heard of bubbling CO2 in calcium and magnesium carbonates. Are you suggesting that bubbling CO2 in ocean water will precipitate calcite? I think it would probably have the opposite effect and create more acidity which would tend to dissolve carbonates. Note: Ocean water is very basic. It is far from acidic and will almost certainly never become acidic. If you add a base to the desert soil, form a pile on the ocean floor, and bubble CO2 into it, you might precipitate some CO2 if the water is warm enough IMO. It would probably make more sense in most instances to simply use regular cement which is designed to form a very solid and strong structure. Carbonates will precipitate out of sea water in warm shallow water. Some of the beaches of the Bahamas are formed from precipitated carbonates called oolites.
- Q:I would like to do building cement business, there are also sales in this area, I would like to ask this is not a lot of money is also a lot of money.
- This is to see your working capital,Selling fast, money back fast, hundreds of thousands is enough.
- Q:Why is my lawn dying next to my cement walkway?
- Variety of grass you have in your lawn can be of much help to determine the cause of your problem. Cement composition(depending on your cement) will change the pH in your lawn soil, knowing what type of grass you have would be helpful. On the other hand it can be a chinch bug problems(in my case I've Saint Augustine grass and have the same problem) the cement walkway exsert heat and chinch bugs love this. Chinch bugs also effect grasses like aszoysia, Bermuda, and centipede grass. When you said dying, what color was the grass, brown, yellow?. Is it only next to the cement or further into the lawn(center) as well. If the grass is brown next to the cement I treat it with an insecticide for chinch bugs, this will treat the problem. I've used talstar liquid concentrate with the best results(I recommend this product), it also comes in granules for larger areas too. This product is easily found at Wal-Mart, OKorder, etc.
- Q:What type of cement/concrete do I use for making broken glass countertops?
- Broken Glass Countertops
- Q:What is cement made of?
- Cement is made by baking/firing gypsum rock to drive off the chemically bound water. I live in Dallas and we have millions of tonnes of it just below the topsoil which can be seen in road cuts and in names like White Rock Lake.
- Q:Does wearing snowboard boots on the cement damage them?
- Like any footwear, they will wear out by walking on cement eventually. I would recommend not walking on cement too much with them since it will make the bottoms smooth and lose their grip and might slide a bit in your bindings. If you can, wear a pair of shoes and carry your boots. If this is too big of a hassle, just keep doing what you're doing. It won't be a big deal unless you're a very good boarder and the smallest things make a difference
Reinforced,It is a real alkali resistent glassfibre enterprise of largest scale, most advanced technology and highest outupt in China. After the newly broadened AR glassfibre tank furnace with production capacity of 10000 Tons/ year being put into production, we will be the China largest, world second largest AR glassfibre professional producer in total output.
