Q:I dropped a hammer on my ceramic tile floor!!?
You should have kept a few spare tiles in case something happens like this, No big deal to replace a tile, scratch out the grout and chisel up the old tile, replace with a new one and re grout.
Q:Floor tiles pop up?
Hi ...we have a problem with 12x12 tile in the living room area that has popped across the room in a line from one wall to the other...the building is 16 years old and the tile has been down that long.....why all of a sudden the tile would pop ...there they are at there is no sun light or temp change since we are in Florida.....WHAT TO DO???
Q:Tile falling off a roof--physics?
The tile falls with a constant acceleration of g, at the upper sill it will have achieved some velocity V What we know that if falls 3.49 m in a time of 0.32 sec, starting with the velocity V and accelerating at g d = Vt + 0.5gt^2 3.49 = 0.32V + 4.9(0.32)^2 V = 9.34 m/s Now just find how far something would have to fall to achieve a speed of 9.34 m/s using Vf^2 = Vi^2 + 2ad Vf = 9.34 m/s, Vi = 0 m/s , a = g = 9.8 m/s^2 9.34^2 = 2(9.8)d d = 4.45 m from the roof
Q:i want to install polished white 24x24 porcelain floor tile, whats the best color grout for this type/color ?
Is it a pure white? If so your best look will be a white grout. If you have any coloring or haze of color in the tile pick up and match that as best as possible. The use of any other colors in a pure white tile will show as a checker board look on the floor. Maybe not so bad in a real light tone, but any time you go a grey tone it will jump out at you. You asked about type of grout, most likely you ll need a sanded grout and have to use a 1/8 th 3/16 th or a 1/4 inch grout joint.I prefer 3/16th myself and thats what I use on most all my jobs. There are a few (few) porcelains made to go tight together and you ll need a unsanded grout. These you can tell by the tiny beveled edge they ll have .. Any questions you can e mail me thru my avatar and check out my qualifications there GL
Q:How to make handmade tiles?
In some measure it depends on how strong you want the tiles to be. Fired clay, in even a tile sense, is usually done at 3600 degrees in a kiln. Then cooled, painted/glazed/ etc. and fired again. At a decent pottery retailer you can find dozens of types of clay, and in fact some that is low fire, or even oven bake, which can be hand painted, and perhaps glazed over with a clear coat and no re-firing, but the strength and durability issue will still exist. Clay for tile, Ceramic or Porcelain, is slab rolled for consistency, Cut precisely, fired in kilns, cooled, then is decorated variously. Some larger houses will sell blanks that one can decorate themselves, even coffee mugs/cups/ bathroom sinks. etc. Obviously with a rolling pin and some risers, at 3/8 or 1/4, you could hand roll the clay and cut it, but then what? Below is a link for a general search to a company that can give you all the info you need in various methods and types of clay used. I spent a lot of $$$ with them in the early part of this decade. Q:floor tile question please help?
You can use as many different styles of tile that you choose since you won't be viewing both rooms at the same time. The 16 x 16 would work fine if your kitchen is a decent size. I have a rather small bathroom and I installed 12 x 12 tile on the floor, walls, and shower enclosure and I love it. The less grout you have to deal with, the easier it is to take care of tile. Installation was messy (it was my first attempt at laying tile), but I would do it over in a heartbeat. By the way, I was told you have to have at least 1/2 inch spacing between tiles, but that just isn't so. I would have been better off using a 1/4 inch spacing.
Q:cracked counter tiles?
I can tell you of a little trick that I have done, and no one is the wiser!(No one can tell) I cracked two of mine next to the sink. I had to stop and think about this one awhile. It was in the kitchen and that's where everyone in the world congregates, and is very visible. It was a big crack, with a gap in the middle on one of the tiles, and just a plain crack on the other tile. I came up with using some of my white modelling clay to fill in the gap, and when dried, I covered it with White-Out. (I didn't have any porcelain repair.) The white out holds up to the water, believe it or not! Matter of fact, I've used it to fill in little chips that the sink had in it. And it's still there! Even after scrubbing the sink with comet! I'm both shocked and happy I came up with the idea of using it! Now that's just a quick fix. Under normal circumstances,I would have either looked for new tile,or have gone and bought some porcelain repair at the hardware store. Byee
Q:Grout is popping out of the kitchen tile floor.?
Flexible Tile Grout
Q:What is the double tiles of tiles? (High reward)
The difference between polished tiles and glazed tiles:   1, different specifications Polished tiles and cast glazed tiles in the size of the size of the above is also a certain difference, polished tiles are mainly used in the living room lights are more, the size is generally 600,800 tiles, and throwing glazed tiles are often 300 * 300 small Brick.   2, different colors Polished tiles of the color is relatively simple, not much change, the difference between the various colors of brick noodles will not be too strong, but the glazed tiles are not the same, throwing glazed tiles than polished tiles rich colors. Throwing glazed tiles are printed on the pattern after the shower glaze, the color to be more vivid, but also completely unrestricted, red, black, blue, blue and purple completely no problem.   3, different lines Polished tiles and polished tiles of the lines is not the same, the texture of polished tiles can not be very small, throwing glazed tiles can be done as fine as the needle and thread.   4, brick different Brick is the key to distinguish between polished tiles and glazed tiles, polished tiles are the color into the brick body inside, so the surface of the following 1-2mm brick body color and the surface is the same. And throwing glazed tiles are completely different, and will not penetrate into the brick body, look at the side of the brick, glazed tile layer is more obvious, it is obvious to see the glaze, if the brick surface is only a layer of a very Pu a color Layer is certainly a glazed tiles.
Q:I want a new colored tile....?
