- dogs like to pee on absorbent surfaces. Thats why they will naturally go on dirt or grass. To prevent this, I would not let him on the couch or bed for a few more weeks. Though dogs get the bathroom training quickly if done right, they could have accidents just like toddlers so to help them don't let them get into situations where he could go.. at 12 wks you should be taking him out every 4 hours or so and a half hour after play and eating. When he does do this, a firm no and quickly taking him outside will teach him where he should go. oh and a proper cleaner from a pet store will also help. others do not take away the smelll completely

- Q:I've tried everywhere and no one seems to sell them. I have a leather sofa and loveseat that have been used and abused .Rather than buy new, I'd like to just put some slipcovers on. But the type they are doesn't seem to be available in slipcovers. I've googled, no luck. Most sites that sell them say they don't make them for these type of sofas. Any suggestions? I'm getting desperate and am thinking staplegun and fabric is my only option!
- If you don't sew you may be out of luck. It would be difficult to even make a cover for a leather sofa that wouldn't slip and slide off. Most covers are made to cling to a fabric-covered piece of furniture and will cling to other fabrics; leather, no. There is leather stain you could apply that would cover messy food stains, but it sounds like wear and tear is your basic problem. I am a brave person and have tried fixing things that no one else would even consider. If you can find a practical fabric you'd like to use for a cover, you can measure the sofa and cut the fabric to fit the various sections and glue the back, front, and arms on and sew fabric to fit the cushions. If you don't sew, you could have someone sew cushion covers for you; you could surely cut, measure and glue on the rest yourself. All it takes is courage - ask the women of Iran about courage - we don't need to worry about being shot if we try something different - what have you got to lose? You didn't want to use the furniture the way it is - go at it - you have my blessing.

- You need plenty of scratching mats, not posts around the house and they come with catnip to attract them. My cats use them constantly. One has a thing for our door frames but is doing it less and less with more scratching mats around. Petco also offers a solution with a stick on substance that does not harm your furniture, etc. but will deter the cat from scratching it up. Ask you pet store for solutions. They have them.

- When you can't be there to supervise, use a crate. But only for 2 hours at a time, maximum. It's up to you to correct the behaviours you don't want - but good luck if you have two puppies at the same time, unless you are experienced! It's not a good idea to have two as they will tend to listen, follow, each other, rather than you. Prevention/avoidance is always the way forward and if they are getting at your sofa, remove dogs from sofa, or sofa from dogs. Problem solved.
