- Hard wire means it's not just plugged in. eg. using the cigarette lighter but instead is permanently wired in. All you need to do is wire the lights ground wire to any ground wire under the dash eg. ignition ground or radio ground ( wire will be black ) or directly to a screw that goes into any metal part of the chassis and wire the lights positive wire to either the accessory wire from your ignition (lights come on when car is on) or a constant power wire eg. radio power wire and wire in a toggle switch so you can turn the lights on or off at will.
- Q:I am installing a ceiling fan. The directions say to connect the blue and black wire from the fan to the black wire coming from the ceiling and the white to the white from the ceiling using a wire nut. I have connected those with no problemThat leaves me with a green ground wire coming from the fan. However, the only ground wire coming from the ceiling is a naked solid copper wire. - I changed my outside light and sounds like the wires were similar to yours. Make sure you have the power turned off. And, connect and twist the wires (same colored) together, and use the caps, and connect the green ground wire and turn on the power to test it again. Might want someone near the power switch and someone to watch the light to make sure sparks don't fly. And, make sure you have a bulb that works in there. Otherwise might want to contact someone knowledgeable (family member/electrician) with help.

- Yes, download the owners manual, it will tell you how to the unground neutral, and use 4 wire cord, but generally you will just need to disconnect a jumper that connects the center terminal to ground, then connect the ground wire to the frame. Post the model number if you need help finding it. I am a little confused, it seems your first and second question are opposite, but doesn't matter, all dryers in North America can work with either type. The code says you have to use the 4 wire receptacle unless you only have three wires in the junction box. NEC 250.140 Frames of Ranges and Clothes Dryers Frames of electric ranges... shall be connected to the equipment grounding conductor... Exception: for existing branch-circuit installation only where an equipment grounding conductor is not present in the outlet or junction box, the frames of electric ranges...clothes dryers, and outlet or junction boxes that are part of the circuit for these appliances shall be permitted to be connected to the grounded circuit conductor... The Equipment grounding conductor is the green wire. The grounded circuit conductor is the white/neutral wire.

- your 4 wires are probably the white, black, ground, and traveler wire. The 4th wire, the traveler wire is needed if you want to have a 3-way or 4-way switch. Since you don't have this type of switch, otherwise it will be obvious where the 4th wire goes, just put a cap on it and tuck it inside the box.

- NO, you need to buy thicker wire because electricity follows the path of least resistance which means if one of the wires is 1/8 of an inch longer than the other, that is the wire the most electricity will flow through, as far as the speaker wire it wont make a difference unless it is thicker than what you already have installed (its very hard to tell the difference in sound quality even with very high quality speakers
