Q:Can bases be sources of electricity? Please explain why and cite your references. Thanks :)
base has many meanings. Air force bases sometimes have a diesel generator. Base hospitals almost always have diesel generators. A chemical base, together the right metals, can act as a electrochemical cell (battery). A base metal, such as zinc and copper, with the proper acid can act as a electrochemical cell (battery). .
Q:has there been any long term tests on the effects on the engine from running it on hydrogen produced from a hydrogen generator and your ordinary gasoline/Diesel?also has anyone attempted to hook a hydrogen/H2O/Brown's gas generator up to a actual diesel generator like wisperwatt or any kind of diesel generator?any help would be great thanks!

Q:Hi. Wondering if someone could help me out with some info on how to change the output of a generator from 60hz to 50hz without a converter? Some advice would be appreciated. Thanks .
A generator frequency cam be changed to 60Hz to 50Hz by changing its speed in rpm. One should remember that frequency ,f PN/120, Hence N120F/P, where N is revoultions per minute and P the number of poles. If you have a frequency meter, run the Diesel engine until the frequency registers only 50 Hz. the voltage registered may be lower than the desired terminal voltage. Here, you adjust the potentiometer trim until the desired voltage at 50Hz is attained. During operation of the unit, if the load is lesser than its rating, the voltage droop at the regulator has to be adjusted ,either increase or lower droop. If your generator is smaller than what I referred to, you will need a frquency meter and AC Voltmeter.
Q:How much carbon does the average diesel-powered (not hybrid or diesel-electric) freight train engine emit per ton-mile?
All diesel locomotives actually are now self-generating electrics. The diesel turns a generator that powers YOOOOJ electric motors geared to the drive wheels. IOW the electric part is the transmission between the engine and wheels. As for carbon output Assume 0.4 # of fuel per horsepower per hour. Assume the engine is run at about 50% most of the time the freight train is cruising. So for a 7000 hp locomotive, that'd be an average power output of 3500. So far the algebra gives us 1400 # mass of fuel used every hour. Most freight trains I've seen run like 4 locos, maybe more if it's a really long consist and there're more inclines to pull up. So that'd be like 5600 # of fuel for every hour that train is moving. But wait! Remember how much stuff that train's hauling! It's literally HUNDREDS of semi trucks worth of stuff, so to complicate this, you have to also know the length of run (in hours) and the load so you can get the carbon output per ton of cargo. After all that you must figure the percent by weight of Carbon in diesel fuel. Sorry, but I'm not doing that homework. Good question, BTW. Also, I did this calculation in my head for a commuter train last year and figure that the equivalent fuel mileage is like 50 mpg per person. Sure beats commuting in the family Status Urban Vehicle, huh!
Q:fuel oil (called also heavy oil) operated engine.can be a dual fuel engine e.g. diesel / fuel oilor engine only or a generator set.generator 150~250 Kvaor engine only 200~300 HPused in working condition
Fuel oil is diesel. You can try a google on used machinery suppliers, they should give you some idea. Depending on where you are you will find someone who can help. Failing that if you already have a gen set, adapt a scania or volvo engine to drive it. Both these engines come in the horsepower range you are asking for and will give many years faithful service providing you look after them. All you need is to securely mount the chosen engine on a 3 channel frame, preferably on manufacturers engine mounts, with a adaptor plate (easily produced by anyone with half an idea) to drive the gen motor. Make sure you have warning lights (pref buzzer) in place for oil press, temp etc and you're in business.
Q:I want to buy a portable generator for power-outages and need some advice on which to buy. I want to run: at least one refrigerator possibly a stand-alone freezerbasic lightinga few outlets a sum-pump. I also need to provide power to my heat in the winter Our heat is natural gas but it needs to be lit with the pilot light and I guess the thermostats need power. Preferrably diesel so we can store fuel safer. How many volts and watts do I need, what price range should I look for, and how many gallons of fuel would I need to be prepared for a good 2 days without power? Thanks- best answer gets the 10!
You need at least a 5KW, I''d start at a 7 KW. You need to read the specs to see how much fuel it consumes, most give a rating such as 9 runtime hours at 1/2 capacity. You would not need to run it all the time either, like maybe 1 hour on, 2 off, and off overnight. You would get a transfer panel installed, for youe sump-pump, furnace, appliances, and convenience circuits you require. Since you have NG, you can look into an NG powered generator.
Q:i go to UTI get the diesel technican program were could i get a joband what would be the starting wageshow much would i make a yearthanksp.s i would eithier work in texas or california
If U learned a skill see which industry is needed for what u want to do.UTI should have jobs lined up.
Q:Have a 15kw generator. Diesel. I want to upgrade without buying a whole new generator. Can I keep the motor and swap a generator hook up
My best suggestion would be upgrade to Solar Photo Voltaic where you get output and also save diesel+ environment. or buy a second hand D.G .
Q:can somebody explain to me electrical power distribution for jackup rigstarting from the engine to generator then bus,MCC1,MCC2,SCR
Nice to have your Q, i am also a Jack up Rig Design Engineer. Ok. see 1st of Jackup rigs have diesel generators which provide power supply for the various electrical power requirements on rig. usually the voltage level is 6.6kV, 4.16kV, 690V or 600 V which is then further reduced upto 415V, 220V/127V as per load and client requirements since it affects the design and overall space required and size of rig as well. the generated power is 1st transferred to the main PMCC or MCC known as generator switchboards. from here the power is dirtributed to various other switchboards such as jacking MCC, drilling MCC, Ventilation MCCs, VFD panels (for top drive mud pump panels through VFD/SCR system) and other MCCs for other electrical loads. voltage is further reduced upto 415V/220V/127V for lighting and other lv loads using dry type transformers. oil filled trafos are not preferred since they r bulky and not feasible to have them on rigs since its in sea and also problem in maintenance. cables used are usually of XLPE or XLPO insulation. the configuration is as follows CU/XLPE or XLPO/Inner sheath (SHF)/Armour/Outer sheath (SHF), the inner and outer sheath has to be low smoke halogen free material, armour is usually bronze wire armour, usually cables used are all flame proof as per iec 60332, cat 3-22A and cables for emergency purposes are fire resistant as per iec 60331. hope this is fine.
Q:What is the difference between a diesel generator and a super silent generator?
Therefore, some environments need to be quiet, then you must use the super silent generator
