- Q:Hi there,i have been using a barbell bench press for my decline press and nearly every gym session i seem to stack the weights up and up. however when i use the smith machine for flat bench press it seems that it takes me a very long time to gain more weight.Which machine will get me better results and weight gains?ThanksP.S Is there any difference between the way the two machines work the chest?(The smith machine is a machine and barbell bench press is free hand)
- Always, ALWAYS go regular free weight bench press. Free weights are the most effective because the movements are not controlled...they are not as safe as machines per se, but what's a spotter for eh? I bench 185lbs (barbell) right now. If I were to use a Smith machine, I could probably do 225lbs due to the extra support. Decline bench pressing seems to be easier than incline for some reason. My favorite has and always will be the regular flat bench press, but I do understand what you mean by decline feeling easy. The standard, flat bench press is the #1 upper body exercise though.
- Q:Is the Leg press a good way to build leg strength, as an Offensive lineman would need? Or is squat better?
- Leg Press, Leg curl from the laying down on your stomach position; squats; Leg curl from a sitting position; leg up working out the calves; and enough stretching of your lower limbs to were you are comfortable with. Start out slow with just a little weight and build from there, lots of reps and set with little weight, then progress to higher weights and lower reps. - Q:I just bought an old drill press from a pawn shop, but there is no manufacturer info on it. All i can find is a model number, RY-6. My first instinct was Ryobi, but can't find anything about it from them, even though it does look very much like their press, just a lot older model. It's a little 10 press. If anyone can either confirm my guess, or point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

- Did you get a good warm up before doing decline presses? I bet you pinched some nerves on your shoulders due to repetitive strain from the presses. Active rest is essential in order for the strain to heal. It is a good idea to see a doctor to properly diagnose the problem. To prevent shoulder injury, I suggest you keep your shoulders healthy thru Simple Stretches, Range Of Motion and Strength Exercises. This will keep them solid strong and free from possible injury.

- a press is a big machine that presses out components like panels for a car door etc, the setter is a person that sets the machine up for doing this, like getting the measurements right and the press parts all in the right place ready for manufacture

- Freedom of the press gave people the right to publish their opinions in the newspaper, where as in other countries if you published a negative opinion about an important politician or something you could get killed. It was important to the abolitionists because they could speak their minds freely and get their opinions across to others without being restricted.
