- Q:I have a hard drive that has an enclosure is there any way to take an internal 3.5hard drive and convert it to an only usb cable portable hard drive with no power cord?
- No. Not a 3.5 hard drive. You can do it with a 2.5 laptop drive because the drive mechanics and electronics require less power. A 3.5 drive requires too much power for USB to provide. Though... In the near future, you will see USB ports that are capable of supplying more power than the standard .5 amps that USB currently provides. So after they come out, you might see it being a possibility then.
- Q:I found some cable online that I can use, but haven't had any experience with any of this.
- Hi Ian: That cable you refered to is called Siamese cable meaning it's RG-59 coax + an outer power cable twinned to it (as a single run) for powering a remote camera. If that's the purpose for the coax you need (or you are wanting to wire a car backup camera with power and video signal, for example) then this is the correct cable to use. However, if you just want to run a video, antenna, or cable-box signal, and don't need the power cable feature, this particular brand of cable is a waste of money. Feel free to use the Additional Details link to post an Update to the discussion, and I or another Y!A Contributor can give you more info on the topic of what your application is for the coax cable. hope this helps, --Dennis C.
- Q:Hello,I recently bought a kotatsu and I really need some help. The power cable is of course Japanese And I need some type of converter. On the part of the cable that plugs into the radiotaor it says:PSE (It's in some square box)JET MR7A 250VOn the end that plugs into the wall it says:PSE (It's in some square box)JET MR7A 125VI''m not sure if a simple small converter to let me put the Japanese cable into my wall is enough, I think I need something extra to make sure nothing goes into flames.Inside the Japanese instruction manual I found some info However, I'm not really sure if it is related to the power supply or notAC100V 50-60Hz400W3.1 (Probably the length of the cable) 1.3 (Same here I think)140Wh 60 Wh55C 37CPlease help me, what should I get to be able to use the cable in Europe. Any links at all will be helpfulThanks.
- Don't worry too much about what the cord says. Worry about the power requirements on the appliance label, and making sure you are feeding it with the voltage required, with a capacity within the range. In your instance, you will need a converter transformer that converts your outlet voltage to 100V, and has 550 or larger watt capacity.
- Q:I have 8x220ah deep cycle car battery's at 12v and i wanted to run an 5kw 12v power inverter but i would need cable which is 400amp 12x4004800 so could i use two cable connected to the battery's and split the power into 2 cable or would this not work if so whythe inverter would be using 400amps from the battery and it would be supplying 20amps at 240voltsis my working out correct
- In this case, you should have put the batteries in series to get 48 or 96 volts, that makes the cabling easier. Too late now. Yes, at 5kW, that is 5000/12 420 amps I don't know what size wire you are using, and what the distance is, so I can't help further without that information. For example, if you are running 10 feet of cable (20 total) and you want to lose only 5% of the voltage, which is 0.6 volts, then the resistance of the wire needs to be less than 0.6/420 1.4 mΩ. That is, over 20 feet, 71 mΩ per 1000 feet, which is 000 AWG wire. Mush more than 10 feet, and you need to use MCM wire. .
- Q:I got a XFX radeon 5750 graphics card and after a lot of trouble I realized that I hadn't plugged in the 6 pin PCIe power cable, but I don't see any slots on my power supply, does anyone know how to fix this problem? I really don't wanna buy another power supply :(
- Did the graphics card come with a power adapter cable? Update: Those are fan cables. Most video cards that have a six-pin power connector come with an adapter for people who don't have a 6-pin power connector. It adapts two Molex connectors to a six pin. See my link.
- Q:I've got a 1967 Sears-Kenmore sewing machine with a power cable that a cat chewed through (previous owner). The damage is near the end of the cable and the copper wires are showing. I shopped around and found a replacement pedal/powersupply but I really like the antique pedal I have with it. Thank you in advance.
- If it's near the plug end, the one that goes into the wall, it's easy. You can buy a replacement plug, cut off the old one and wire on the new one. Wire strippers would be handy but you could strip the wires with a carefully used sharp utility knife, and you will need a screwdriver to deal with the plug itself. If it's very close to the foot pedal end or the machine plug side, that might be a bit harder, depending how much wire there is between the damaged cable and the pedal or plug. You could cut away the damaged portion, splice the wires with wire nuts, cover firmly with electrical tape and be done. If there isn't room to do that, you might have to take the foot pedal apart and re-attach the wires from the rest of the cable. Shouldn't be that hard to do. Just note where the wires went inside the foot pedal.
- Q:power supply, however it comes with some cables that can be attached to the peripheral 4 point cable then ran into the card itself. can this setup work? Or will I need a new power supply with 2 6 point pci express power cables? Oh by the way its a 600 watt power supply I currently have.
- i think you should be ok
- Q:Now i get a message saying I have low system voltage. Is this gonna impair performance? Are there adapters for this? This is for a DESKTOP. Dell XPS.
- What? What are you saying? What processor uses a 10 pin power connector? You did 'say' CPU! (Central Processing Unit) Or do you mean the 20 pin ATX Motherboard connector? (AMD's use no power to processor connector. Intel Pentium 4 and UP, use a four pin power connector, from the power supply to the motherboard. (Mobo) Edit: Low System Voltage will start with causing weird things to happen. Then the computer motherboard power headers,(Connectors), will burn up. I suggest you turn this computer off, un-plug it, and email me.
- Q:I bought a XFX Radeon 6970 and I KNOW it is going to need power cables. I just need to know exactly which ones. Please help
- It needs 150w through the 8 pin connector and 75w through the 6 pin connector, in addition to the 75w it draws through the PCI bus. You can see the connectors in pictures of the card. These are standard connectors on an ATX12V v2.2 power supply, but you will need to make sure the power supply says 2 x 6+2-Pin for PCI Express power connectors. One or two six-pin connectors alone isn't sufficient.
- Q:Hello guyzz, recently i have bought new card powercolor radeon hd 6770 1gb gddr5 .i installed it but it required a 6 pin power cable forbut i checked in my all pc.i cant fine any 6 pin power cable.so without any cable its not working wat i do plzzz help.
