- Q:I'm looking to add another Light fixture on the other side of the garage, and wire it using the existing cable from the first light, I know running a normal power cable outside drywall is against code, but I've heard some people say you can use something like BX cable, or some metal encased cable outside of drywall and still be up to code? - Mmm well a cable is a cable if it is a three pin one then it is fine. With powercables you need a certain thickness of the cable for safety. PC cables are able to run 1000Watt... so a 200Watt console is no trouble.

- from the trunk down the side of the car (pop open the panels that sit on the bottom where the door closes. run the wire thru the firewall grommet where the ignition and internal power wires run thru. Use a coat hanger duct taped to the power wire to get it thru. should go thru with some pressure. just finished dropping in an amp in my accord.

- Yes, you can use regular XLR cables for microphones that require phantom power. The only reason why some microphones require phantom power is because they require extra voltage flowing through the XLR cable. Condenser mics are the most commonly used mics that require phantom power, mainly because of the way the diaphram picks up sound (condenser mics pic up sound in a narrower area around the mic, yet can pick up distant sounds somewhat better). It earned the name phantom because it is invisible to other balanced (non-condensing, etc.) mics that don't need the extra power. A tech section would make it easier on most of us, because most of the important questions get lost in the typical whuz you're fav song or need lyrics plz questions that flood the section.

- The wire could heat up causing damage, however it would likely just create less power
- Q:HiIs it advisable to run 110VAC cable from the sub stationa and 110VAC cable from generator (clean) in the same conduit ; one of them for lighting and the other for CCTV; the concern is if the one for lighting is not clean (not consisting of a pure sine wave or carrying interference) would that effect the power line of the CCTV and has an effect on the picture? even though both are 110VAC.the installation is over seas where the power from the station is not consistence.
- If both are simple power lines, then you won't have a problem. The only time you need to be cautious is when you are running a high-voltage power cable and a signal cable alongside each other e.g. a 110VAC cable alongside a 4-20ma signal line from a transmitter. The reason for the potential interference is that the power cable emits an electro-magnetic field which can potentially cause induction in the cable alongside it and effect the signal with an induced EMF. The likelihood of this depends on the cable type, screening and correct earthing measures. It's a good bet to never run a power and signal cable alongside each other, and if you have no other choice, seperate them by means of a makeshift Faraday Cage. If both are doing nothing other than supplying power to the system though, then any induced EMF will be so minute, it will not likely affect the system in any way.
