- Q: We have clutter like the shed, playground and bricks that my mother does not want to remove. Also, we have weeds growing and tons of branches so I don't know what to do. Let alone, my mother keeps on saying landscaping is needed but she very rarely asks for a person to cut the grassand we don't have the budget to cut our two tall trees.
- Bundle the branches up and tie them with string, put out with the trash if you confirm your trash removal company accepts yard waste. Once they are gone, a good raking to remove leaves and dead grass using a lawn rake, bag them up and get rid of them. Tidy up the bricks and any loose items you want to keep and stack behind the shed if possible. Once all the yard is clean, look at any high or low spots, get a few bags of topsoil from Home Depot ( $1.29 a bag) , some grass seed, and a small bag of starter fertilizer. The cost should be under $50 for everything. Use the soil in low spots, and then sprinkle the grass seed and starter wherever there is a bald spot and in the new topsoil. Water lightly but often, the idea is to wash the oily covering off the seed, but not wash the seed away. Keep it moist for a week and you will have new grass growing. Follow the directions on the seed package for proper lawn care once up.
- Q: I want to build a botanical garden in the town I live in, it will be a private land that is not for profit company and open to public for a few dollars. What are resources I can use to get me started on the research for this project, remember its large scale so small garden info isn't that useful.I have found lots of gardening design/plant/etc info but its all for small scale, I am going to be building a several acre garden. What considerations should I think about? How much space? What plants?Legal issues? What about designs, information on design of large scale parks?
- Well you have to get a really,, really lot of plants that people would want to pay money to your non profit garden so they could see what a wonder you had built . So ,,because you are such a macro minded kinda guy Nothing less than 500 acres would be enough for you to demonstrate you Genius and to develop this non profit for profit eden. As for plants Grow something like banana plants so people who pay to go there could eat while they admire your garden also you will have to talk to county and find out what permits you need As for design.. build a path through the garden so you can lead tours on segways,, that would be so Green. Riding Segways through a non profit garden Oh my god ! I am in heaven

- Q: For a historical short story I'm writing I need this information. Thanks.
- Home life was relatively untouched - unlike WW2. During WW 1 there were no bombing raids, nor rockets launched. The main effect was that so many of the ablebodied men were in the armed forces, or in the navy, There were shortages, but more people at that time had home gardens, kept chickens etc, so the shortages weren't anywhere near as severe as during WW2.
- Q: I'm looking for a certain picture of a home from one of the magazines articles. Is there a place I can see their old Magazines?
- Try the library or ask the librarian about internet searches....they are very helpful about this and may be able to get a back issue for you.

- Q: Apparently the former owners of our mobile home had a problem with something underneath the trailer (leaky faucets, etc) and tore out the support from underneath the garden tub in the master-bath. I noticed what looked like a hair one day while cleaning the tub and realized that it was not a hair it was a crack!! The crack is only about an inch long and is still fitted together, so I don't think it leaks much at all, unless one side or the other gets pushed down. It's definitely not a gaping hole or anything and we do still use the tub, though we are careful to stay away from the crack, which is in the very bottom, about 4 inches from the drain. We are planning on going under the trailer this summer to quot;shorequot; things back up, but I need to know if there is any way to fix the crack without having to replace the whole tub. There is no way we can afford that..
- I recommend either going with the epoxy mentioned above, or fiberglass. You could put the largest part of either patch on the bottom if it's accessible, and just a small amount on top to keep the tub looking as nice as possible. I used fiberglass on a out door hot tub with good results. You can buy fiberglass at a automotive supply store, but be careful of the fumes when applying it. Have good ventilation or wear a respirator for organic gasses. The fiberglass would make a longer lasting patch, as epoxy seems to weaken over time.
- Q: Please list any good online stores that you can think of for home decor or clothing. I'm always looking for new places to shop. Thanks.
