Q: My husband bought me the 14th limited edition Better Homes and Gardens book... and I've had alot of recipes not taste great. I have to alter them alot and then they're okay (FYI- I cook great, it's not me, its the recipes). Also I've found alot of errors with the index and page numbers. I was just wondering if Betty Crocker makes a better cookbook and if there's a better variety. I know the BHG is huge, but it really doesn't seem like there's a lot of desserts or cookies, and I LOVE cooking.Let me know what you think, and if you can recommend a specific book that would be great too!

Q: A life style magazine that includes: recipes, home and garden ideas, true stories, fashion, beauty and health tips. I have to make two covers for different age groups. For the older magazine it will be for women, but for children it will for boys and girls.
ECLECTIC (has it all) OR IT (its recipes, its home and gardens its true stories its fashion its beauty and health tips, its for women, its for children its for men) OR COMPILATION (the magazine with everything and more)
Q: food out there but this happens every year.the house next door have ivy which has covered our side of one of our fences and we do get a lot of snails in the winter ,could this have anything to do with our problem now?
lf l had my way l would tax the hell out of owners and exterminate all unwanted dogs.Dogs may be dear to owners but to the rest of us it is a irritating nuesense. When you consider that there is nothing whatsoever to gain from pets for the public. They compete with man for food sheter and vet fees. Unlike cattle they produce zero benefit to the public. All we have to show is dog mess on our pavements, constant noise from barking, and constant fear from attacks.and all that for what?
Q: I've just moved to a house with a nice back yard, with all kinds of plants and trees in it, but I have no idea how to figure out which plants or trees they are. I'd like to know how to take care of them in the best way, but I'd need to know what they are first.
That is cool that you moved into a place that is already landscaped. All of my new houses have been all grass and it is a lot of work and money to put in a garden. It's fun, but still a lot of work. First thing I would do is get a good gardening book that you can search for the plants and trees that you have in your garden. I have a copy of the Better Homes and Gardens Complete Guide to Gardening ISBN number: 0-696-00041-5. The book has photos, descriptions and information on how to care for them. I'm sure there are newer books, but this is a good example. Once you go through the book if there are any plants or trees that you can not identify, I would take photos and then take them to a good local garden store and see if they can help you out. You can also look at attending any local garden shows or events. They usually have gardeners with a lot of knowledge and are happy to help out. For really good local knowledge in my area I visit Darts Hill Garden: www.dartshill.ca/
Q: I had an issue of Better Homes and Gardens from January 2000 and it had an amazing cake recipe with homemade icing and candy bar chunks on top, but I have lost the issue and cannot find the recipe online anywhere. Does anyone have the recipe or know anywhere that i can find it?
have okorder /... I think I saw that recipe. THEN!!! But I have given all those magazines to the girls so they could clip!
Q: Sweet Home Oregon, 97386
We have a USDA zone calculator on our website at- www.gardening-at-the-crossroads.c... Good Luck and Happy Gardening from Cathy and Neal!
Q: I have been told by family members that angels will not enter my home as we have dogs. The dogs are kept in the garden and are not permitted to enter the property. I myself will feed the creatures but will not allow them to touch me, but my son plays and strokes them. How do i maintain that my son is purified and cleansed after touching the dogs.
The Sisters of Mercy can if you buy their CDs.
Q: My mom has that better homes and gardens cookbook (its old i think) and she always uses the easy baked beans recipe for Christmas but some how the page got ripped out and lost. If anyone has this cookbook could you please give me the recipe. It is on p.785 and she says its just called quot;easy baked beansquot; Thanks so much!
Easy Baked Beans Source: Better Homes Gardens 4 slices bacon 1/2 c chopped onion 2 (1-pound) cans pork and beans 2 T brown sugar 1 T Worcestershire sauce 1 t prepared mustard Preheat oven to 325° F. Cook bacon until crisp; drain, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings. Crumble bacon. Cook onion in drippings until tender; add with bacon to beans, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and prepared mustard; mix well. Bake uncovered in 1-1/2 quart casserole for 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours. Makes 6 servings
Q: please send me links to easy and cheap home-made water features for my garden. Thank you!
I have seen several water bogs. these are areas that have rocks with a liner of some sort like a trap with no holes under the rocks. dig a small square, round, rectangle area, just deep enough that you can place the rocks down and then fill the liner up with water. The water can be over the rocks or just to the side of them. Just depends on what effect you are looking for. If you are wanting a higher layer effect do the same procedure but get rocks you can stack on top of one another and purchase a pump and hose the length of the height to your pile. All of my rocks I have gotten by walking county line roads or dirt roads. Visit a rock quarry too can get you some really neat rocks as well. Draw up what you want your rock fountain to look like and then go hunting for your rocks. If you have a family make it an outting and have fun with it. Good Luck!!!
Q: Most of the windows in my house have a draft coming in and I want to weatherize them, but not sure what to use that won't rip the paint off the window sills after I remove it later on. I've used the kits from Wal-Mart and it either rips off the paint or leaves a sticky residue. I've also tried using regular old saran wrap and scotch tape but that's about useless lol. Also, we have a set of French doors in the bedroom. Are there any special type of curtains I can buy to keep it warmer? Between the French doors, the window above my head of the bed and the basement door all in our bedroom it gets quite cold...about 5-10 degrees colder than the rest of the house.Advice?(FYI, we rent this house so putting in new windows isn't an option. It's a pretty old house (built in 1917) but is fairly well insulated otherwise.)
