- Tower cranes are usually erected in one of two ways. You could lift the parts into place with a mobile crane with a telescopic boom which is taller than the crane being built. Some people ask why you dont just use the mobile crane all the time, but the tower crane has higher lifting capacity, longer reach and is cheaper. Some tower cranes are assembled at ground level. The long boom, cab and counter weight are assembled and then jacked up off the ground. A small bit of tower is then sliped in beneath the assembly and attached. The crane is the jacked up again and another portion of the tower sliped in. This is repeated until the desired height is reached. The first method is the most common.

The lifting movement must be stopped immediately.(2) lifting moment limiter and maximum lift limiter;When the lifting torque reaches 90% of its rated value, the lifting torque limiter shall be able to issue an acoustic or red light to indicate the alarm. When the lifting torque exceeds its rated value and reaches 108% of the rated value, the lifting direction and outward direction shall be stopped.If the weight and amplitude indicator are set, the numerical value should be correct, clear and eye-catching. - Q:How do Crane Motors Work?
- I'm not 100% familiar with this but this should be pretty close to the answer. Simple/standard crane motors work by applying power first through a rotating steel shaft into a gearbox. The gearbox allows the gearing ratio to be changed (to trade rotation speed for torque or torque for rotation speed). Another steel shaft carries the power out of the gearbox, again through rotation, to a spindle (think big thimble) around which steel cable is wrapped.
