- It depends on the amperage draw, it should say on the rating plate. 14/3 for 15 amp, 12/3 for 20 amp, 10/3 for 30 amp, 8/3 for 40 amp and 6/3 for 50 amp and so on.
- Q: I have a water valve that I need to connect but I don't know how to read this diagram. I'm unsure how to connect the wires to the cold and hot valve. I have four wires that need to be connected. A pair of white caps with one blue wire and one orange; and a pair of black caps with one blue wire and one yellow wire. Sorry if this sounds confusing but I have no idea how to explain it well. - Cold Valve one at the lower left of the schematic should have a yellow wire which connects directly to the controller at the P5 .1 terminal. The blue wire will connect with a wire nut to a blue wire which is a common ground for all three valves. Cold valve 2 has an orange wire which connects to the controller at the P5 .4 terminal in the blue wire should connect to the same blue wire but in a different place again with a wire nut. If that isn't clear enough post a picture of the and maybe I can explain it better.

Total current = A+B, or 4+1=5 The power dissipated in wire A is 16 times the power dissipated in wire B. ***FALSE*** (EDIT - I was wrong the first time) Because: Power = VxA The voltage drop across wire B is larger than the voltage drop across wire A. **FALSE** Because: If two wires are parallel voltage is same at ends (Beginning point of A and B is the same poin, ending point of A and B is the same point). The resistance of wire B is four times as large as the resistance of wire A. **TRUE** Because: Resistance inversely proportional to square of wire diameter. - It sounds like the wire is loose. To fix this, you'll have to open up the controller and reattach/secure it. If the wire is exposed and is frayed, you'll probably have to get a new controller. This is very broad because you didn't specify the model of the controller. Some of the wired controllers use the normal Ps3-USB wire, while others do not. So, trying opening it up and securing the wire. If you're lucky and it's a Ps3-USB wire, replace it with a new wire. Otherwise, you'll have to get a new controller if you can't fix it.

- Q: Okay, I just started tearing into my partially finished basement of the home I bought last week. - That spare wire (red) in the 14-3 is just that. A spare. Just keep the wire-nut on the end of the wire and you'll be fine.

- Depends on where the ground wire touched. If the ground wire contacted the power line outside the amp, then it *should* be OK. Excess current would have flowed directly from the power wire to the ground wire, not through the amp. Some amplifiers are fused on both the positive and negative power leads, so you need to check both fuses. If the ground wire contacted something inside the amplifier, then you probably blew a power regulator chip or some other part of the internal circuitry, again depending upon exactly where the ground wire touched. In that case, you're on the spot for either a repair bill or a replacement.

- The red one is the earth wire so should go in the right part by the fuse and the yellow one is neutrol so goes in the top middle bit :) Hope that helps
