- Q: Hi, i want to please a solar panel in Lima Peru, my Latitude is -2 and longitude -77. I understand that since i am in the southern hemisphere, my panel should be pointing north. However, i am using a program called pvdesigner, and according to this, y should face my panel with and azimuth of 00degrees (0 = south) and a tilt of 60degrees. Does this make any sense?thanks
- It doesn't make sense to me. I am at latitude 37.7,and my panels face south at about 38 degrees. Yours should be pointed north as you suggest. Being so close to the equator, and in the absence of any better information, an angle of 2 degrees would be appropriate. However, choosing the best angle will greatly to your overall efficiency, so I would try to find a more credible source, How about the folks from whom you buy the panels. They would know precisely. By the way, if you haven't installed the system yet you might consider going to a high voltage system to cut known line losses in the conductors between the panes and the inverter, I did that plus increasing the conductor size over that recommended by the manufacturer. I gained about two percent in efficiency
- Q: Can solar panels be leased or financed?
- Yes, solar panels can be leased or financed. Many solar companies offer leasing options where the panels are installed on your property and you pay a monthly fee for their use. Alternatively, solar panels can also be financed through loans or financing programs, allowing you to purchase and own them over time while making affordable monthly payments.
- Q: how much electricity will produce in Kwh by a 000 W solar panel in a sunny tropical area per day (good sunlight at least 0 hour a day)
- Duh - 000 W panel (rated in good sunlight) in 0 hours of good sunlight. Let me see - 0 * 000 = 0,000 wh or 0 kwh. Yup.
- Q: I have made a 5v dc 52watt solar panel and I going to be trying to charger 4 2v dc 55ah batteries. I get about 6 hours of sun on my panel. Spec below, is that a big enough panel to charge the batteries???I have 30 3x6 solar cells wired together Cell Specifications: (Watts): .75 Wp (Amps): 3.5 Imax (Volts): 0.5 V max which is where I got my 5g 52watt max (if math is wrong plz tell me) The Battery type: 2Volt 55.0ah NB Sealed Lead Acid Battery. I am using a mppt solar charger.
- Technically, any solar panel can charge any battery, but it would take quite a long time do do so if it is a large battery. If you are aware of the voltage and either amp or watt rating of the unit that is usually used to charge the battery, the solar panel should have a similar power output to that charger to work well. amps and watts are quite similar, and can be converted with this simple formula: W=watts; V=volts; A=amps; W/V=A; V*A=W; When charging batteries, it is always wise to use less amps than needed, and roughly the same voltage as the battery being charged. The less amps used to charge batteries means the battery will take longer to charge but will last a lot longer in the long-term. Your solar panel should be sufficient to charge the battery, but you should test charge it to see if it works well. I recommend using a multimeter to check the batteries voltage every couple of hours. Once the battery reaches 2v, it should be fully charged. You should also check the amps in case they are not at the expected value (take caution when checking amps with a multimeter, when i do it i always end up melting my multimeter leads). The battery should be fully charged from anywhere between 6-48 hours. if it is charging faster, the solar panel has too much power. if it doesn't charge in this time frame, the solar panel is not powerful enough.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a greenhouse?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a greenhouse. In fact, it is a common practice to install solar panels on greenhouses to harness solar energy for both power generation and to provide supplemental lighting and heating for the plants inside.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a gas station or fueling facility?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a gas station or fueling facility. In fact, many gas stations and fueling facilities are increasingly adopting solar power as a means to reduce their carbon footprint and save on energy costs. These solar panels can be installed on rooftops, canopies, or even as carports, making them a versatile and effective solution for powering these energy-intensive facilities.
- Q: Was at home depot today and a Solar City sales man came up to me, offering me free solar panels. He said he could install them on my garage for free, free installation, free panels. Promised me it wouldn't cost me a dime. This is obviously appealing to someone like me who has a $200.00 monthly electrical bill. Now my question is this. Is this a scam? Are there ANY hidden fees or things I should be weary of?- I understand I may not save tons of money, but if I can save even something as low as $20 a month I would be happy. I live in a sunny area and they seem very interested in my garage roof. Any information would be super-helpful, thank you.

- Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of salinity or brackish water?
- Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of salinity or brackish water. While exposure to saltwater can potentially cause corrosion and reduce the efficiency of solar panels over time, there are various measures that can be taken to mitigate these effects. These include selecting corrosion-resistant materials, applying protective coatings, and regular maintenance. Additionally, advancements in solar panel technology have led to the development of more robust and durable panels that can withstand harsh environments, including areas with high salinity or brackish water.
- Q: how does solar panels work?
- Solar panels collect solar radiation from the sun and actively convert that energy to electricity. Solar panels are comprised of several individual solar cells. These solar cells function similarly to large semiconductors and utilize a large-area p-n junction diode. When the solar cells are exposed to sunlight, the p-n junction diodes convert the energy from sunlight into usable electrical energy. The energy generated from photons striking the surface of the solar panel allows electrons to be knocked out of their orbits and released, and electric fields in the solar cells pull these free electrons in a directional current, from which metal contacts in the solar cell can generate electricity. The more solar cells in a solar panel and the higher the quality of the solar cells, the more total electrical output the solar panel can produce. The conversion of sunlight to usable electrical energy has been dubbed the Photovoltaic Effect. The photovoltaic effect arises from the properties of the p-n junction diode, as such there are no moving parts in a solar panel.
- Q: Can solar panels be used to power a satellite?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power a satellite. Solar panels on a satellite are designed to convert sunlight into electricity, which is then used to power various systems and instruments onboard the satellite. The panels are typically made of photovoltaic cells that generate electricity when exposed to sunlight, allowing satellites to operate in space where traditional power sources like batteries or fuel cells may not be practical.
