- Q:im upgrading amps from 200 to 1000 and i was wondering if the cables will restrict the current at all? right now i have a 225 watt cord set
- The first consideration is how much power can your speakers handle without self destructing? My opinion is that few can productively handle more than a couple of hundred, and that would be for very brief peaks. The average listening level in a domestic situation is on the order of a few watts - 10 or less. If you really have speakers that can handle that amount of power, and you want to deliver it efficiently, then you need to keep the 2-way resistance of the wires from the amps to the speakers at less than 10% of the speaker impedance. So for 4 ohm speakers (worst case) you want the line resistance to be below 0.4 ohms. For a 50 ft (100 ft 2-way) cable run, that suggests 16 AWG minimum wire gauge for each speaker. Your existing RCA cables should be OK assuming they only carry low level signals. If your present power service and grounding are on a 15 or 20 Amp branch circuit (US) , and no other heavy appliance loads (refrigerator, washer, airconditioner) are on that branch, then it is OK for the new amps.
- Q:Hi. I have an iBook power cable and I was wondering if there was a way to adapt it so I can use it for my new MacBook Pro that uses a magnetic cable? Thanks!
- daily. It took it gradual to comprehend what became into occurring. The Holy Spirit became into guiding me yet i became into no longer following alongside very nicely. yet as quickly as you agree for him totally and thoroughly and renounce your self, then you definitely grow to be an entire new individual and hear and comprehend whats occurring. Yea, i think his potential daily and it somewhat is outstanding!
- Q:i bought a 650w power supply for my pc because i bought a graphic card that needs 550w. So my question is will my regular power cable which came with my computer work on the new 650w power box.P.S- my computer is a 300w
- Yes. it is the same cable that comes with every computer, printer, monitor. OK it's the same cable that comes with 95% of them
- Q:I have my Clearwire modem but have lost the power cable. Does anyone know what I would look for in a replacement power cable.
- check the Clearwire URL .. Support tab
- Q:I have just bought the above SSD product and don't know what connection I need for power, I have a SATA cable but the other long slot doesn't fit any of my power adapters, what do I need?
- You can use splitters.
- Q:Regarding car audio setup, if I were to have an 8 ga power cable powering an amplifier for subs, what would happen if I were to use a smaller ga grounding cable? What if I used a larger ground cable?
- well i am using a 10 ga power cable for my subs it is going perfect, i have used 14 ga speaker wire before also and it works just fine. But in my opinion i dont think it matters how big your ground wire is, im not an expert on this but i still know quite a bit though ;).
- Q:i have a modular power supply i lost my cables moving out of my old house. so can any one tell me where i can get new ones to my power supply:
- I don't think you can, really... Modular power supplies come with cables, they are not one size fits all, every brand and even every model might have different cables and plugs. Contacting the manufacturer will be your best bet, but it might not be worth it, might as well just buy another power supply, it's only another $45 shipping and all.
- Q:I'm trying to find out whether a laptop computer can be powered by an adapter via USB cable. Is it possible? Feasible? Available? Thanks!
- Some lower-powered devices can be powered by USB. I believe a laptop would draw too much amperage to be powered by USB.
- Q:Is the ribbon cable the data cable and the wires the power cables?
- You are correct. Power cables will always have 4 or more separated wires going into a plug. Data cables have all of their internal wires inside a single sheath.
- Q:The cylinder is in the power cable about 2 inches from the connection to the laptop and is about one half inch diameter by one inch long. Does it serve an electronic function or is it just a mechanical assist device?
- It's called a choke. It's used to filter out unwanted radio interference.
