- Just google search solar panels or pv panels and you should get a long list of them. That's what I did. Most of the sites selling them will also have the inverters etc that you'll need. Most likely you'll put several small or medium sized panels on your roof - as opposed to just one large one. You probably won't be able to run an entire cafe off of photovoltaic panels, even if you have a bank of batteries. Too many appliances running at the same time. Ask your electric utility company about net metering - you'll buy juice from them when your demand is high and sell to them when your demand is low - IF you can find a sunny day when you're not using juice, but if you have a restaraunt-sized refrigerator you probably won't be selling as much as you're buying. In effect, it won't eliminate your elec bill, just make it a bit smaller. Either way, you may be looking at spending $20,000 to cover the roof with PV panels and your savings won't pay that back any time soon. So, PV is not so great for a business. Much better for a home where you'll be at work all day the only appliances running in your house is your frig. Whatever you invest to solar your house will be repaid when you sell it, meanwhile you'll reduce your bills dramatically, especially if you convert all your indoor lighting to LEDs. On the other hand, the Googleplex, Google's office building full of computers, covered their roof with pv panels and claim to have reduced their monthly bill by /3. - Just had them installed on a development of 4 homes and they look goood! So far each user has free electricity during daytime for 3/4 of the year. If you live in a hot country - that's free A/C to keep you cool. The downside is that it is grid-tied so there is no storage, which means that if you use electricity to cook the evening meal - you don't get that free. What we advise to do instead is to make use of slow cookers that cook meals during the day - for FREE, and just serve it up in the evening as it keeps the heat. It would be more effective if you used storage radiators and heated hot water tanks for washing/bathing using it but this hasn't been added yet. It's free power all day - so what is there to complain about? The only catch I have found is that some power companies charge YOU if you export power to the grid - so just watch out for that, and design your system to avoid this if this applies, but most just don't pay anything - so you may as well use what you get.

- If you're talking about photovoltaic panels, for making electricity, they're very expensive. Around here I think it runs around 2 bucks a watt of capacity, just for the panels. Then they have to be installed of course, which means an electrician has to be paid, and you need an inverter also. You can also spring for a bank of deep cycle batteries if you want to be able to store the electricity from the panels to use at night or on cloudy days, but that adds another very large expense. Now if electricity is very, very expensive where you are, you could maybe pay this off in a few years, but I doubt you could pay off 8000 pounds worth of this stuff in only a couple years. If you're talking about solar for water or air heating, well, that's another deal. But those kind of setups cost a lot less to put in, I can't see anyone paying that much for it.
