- Q:The dishwasher behind my bar at work has a leak. The pipe that's leaking is Parker Parflex PP 3/8 plastic tubing that connects into a metal nut and brings clean water in. The pipe has a leak exactly where it meets the nut, so in theory I could cut off the cracked portion and then re-seal it to the nut. Can I cut it with wire cutters? Should it be sanded after I cut it? Do I use a teflon sealant? Thanks for any help!
- That should be a compression fitting. If it's a brass fitting then they are one time use. You can get a new brass fitting, cut the PP tube clean with a knife or a razor blade - be careful not to cut yourself please, then install the nut over the tube, slip the compression ring over the tube and if there's an insert that goes inside the PP, insert that. Then push the hose into the fitting and slide the nut and ring to the threaded portion of the fitting and tighten it. Be careful to tighten it enough to seal but not so tight you cut through the pipe again. It's likely the reason you have the leak in the first place is because someone overtightened it. OR you can simply buy a replacement hose. I'd prefer a wire braid shielded pipe. Stronger and made with a professional fitting on the end, one you don't have to mess with. My opinion, replacing the tube is the better idea. And they're not stupidly expensive either. Good luck with your project. '')

- Q:i was wondering what would cause oil to lightly spray out of the plastic tube that hangs down out of the top end of the piston. the tube comes out of the top end right before the exhaust header bolts onto the piston.
- The link doesn't work - session is timed out. Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer. I know what tube you are talking about. That tube is the breather hose for the power valve. As the piston rings start to ware, the oil in the premix doesn't get fully burned and accumulates on the power valve and lt's linkage. The engine is probably overdue for a top end rebuild and power valve cleaning. Remove the cover to see how much crud is in there. 2 stroke engines require rebuilds quite often, to prevent damage to the cylinder. If the top end is fresh, remove and clean the power valve. Otherwise clean the valve and replace the piston rings.

- Q:i finally bought a new faucet, and changed it. it seems that there is no more leaking from the faucet.but now, it seems that there is some water leaking right under that white plastic screw. around the plastic looking tube. inside of it, there is a dark rubber kind of ring around it. i can't take out the white plastic screw (i don't know the those special names.) otherwise, i will just put some plastic tape, and seal it. that shouldn't be so hard. so my question is 1. what do you recommend? should i buy a new tube? or is there any other way to fix this thing?extra question.2. the new faucet has the top iron thing and a black plastic base. i put the plumb's putty on the edge of top and bottom of the black plastic base. i am thinking what if there are some water leaking inside of the faucet, if i sealed the whole plastic base, the water will accumulate inside of it. did i do the right thing at all?
- Looks like the plastic connector has a duff washer in it. It will keep weeping and its annoying. PTFE plastic tape may assist but to be fair id do this: Remove the tube and make sure the threaded brass tail of the tap is flat and smooth wioth no burrs. Second, make sure the threads on the tube arent frayed or have been cross threaded so it goes on slightly crooked. third, make sure the black rubber washer in the tube connector end isnt twisted, split or slipping inside the tail when tightened up fully (common with some makes) fourth, make sure you havent overtightened it, this can cause the above. fifth, where the white plastic braded tube meets the shiny metal crimp section (before the white plasic) it can sometimes fail. Manufaturing fault but not uncommon. Done worry about your question 2. Its 99% question 1. Plumbing and heating engineer for 12 years - a little tip - if you have to force it, your probably doing it wrong. Its a good motto for plumbing.... and in life!!! Yeah baby! Good luck
