All you need is the model number and serial number, you will also need to install the operating system from recovery Cd's or buy a new system. If you want Vista go to Dell and make sure the lap top model is compatible. You would be wise to also have at least 2 GB of ram for Vista. I would reinstall Windows XP or XP pro. Hope this helps

So if you already have a pc at home and don't need a portable device for work/school, go for the iPod Touch. Otherwise, the laptop.
