- Like everyone has said bunk beds allow for more floor space. I have 2 kids and recently purchased bunk beds, they are great the kids love them, best advice purchase a more comfortable mattress, bunk mattresses are not that cozy. Also, if it is for kids i would purchased the Bunky boards or have Home Depot cut more slats. If it is for kids I would go with a wood structure instead of metal, just for the piece of mind. I have been trying to battle this pesky insect for a bit now, but haven't ever thought of the dog being the problem.
