- That is not completely true. It's very possible to be metalcore and not be metal. There is a distinction between bands in the metalcore genre: Hardcore punk with minimal metal influence (who aren't metal) and Metal bands with minimal to slight hardcore influence (who are metal whether people like it or not). BMTH is deathcore which falls under the is metal part, but they don't really do that good of a job. A7X has always fallen under the sect of metalcore bands that are hardcore punk with a slight metal influence (their riffing style, drumming, and dual soloing and harmonization is very reminiscent of Gothenburg death metal, where much of metalcore gets their sound), and have been hard rock since City of Evil.
