2. Description

In North America, aluminium foil is known as aluminum foil. It was popularized by Reynolds Metals, the leading manufacturer in North America. In the United Kingdom and United States it is, informally, widely called tin foil, for historical reasons (similar to how aluminum cans are often still called "tin cans").Metallised films are sometimes mistaken for aluminium foil, but are actually polymer films coated with a thin layer of aluminium. In Australia, aluminium foil is widely called alfoil.

4. FAQ

1)what is aluminum?

Aluminium (or aluminum; see spelling differences) is a chemical element in the boron group with symbol Al and atomic number 13. It is a silvery white, soft, nonmagnetic, ductile metal. Aluminium is the third most abundant element (after oxygen and silicon), and the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust. It makes up about 8% by weight of the Earth's solid surface.

Aluminium metal is so chemically reactive that native specimens are rare and limited to extreme reducing environments. Instead, it is found combined in over 270 different minerals. The chief ore of aluminium is bauxite.

Q:I'm following a recipe by Jamie Oliver for 2kg lamb roast that has pancetta stuffed in itJamie Oliver suggests to cook it with 425F/210C but it doesn't say how long forWhen i looked up other roast lamb recipes they recommend 180C/350F for about 80 mins for a 2 kg medium rare roast.does anyone know why jamie oliver's recipe would want to roast the lamb at such a high heat? Is it because the pancetta should be cooked at a higher temperature? wouldn't it make the lamb more tender to cook at a lower temperature? If i do stick with 425F/210C, how long should I roast it for?the bottom line is, i want the most tender roast possible without the raw pancetta giving me any food poisoning haha.31 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer.
Both are so cute! But i think I like the black a little betterIt really brings out your eyes! And you're like reeeaaally pretty! And your eyes are really pretty too! I reeeeaaaallly wish I could look like you!!! :D
Q:Should I cover it in aluminum foil or should I leave it uncovered?
check with your schoolmates - work together as a group
Q:Hi everyone,I need to know what I can make out of leftover soft-fried corn tortillasI sometimes fry them for (soft) tacos, but sometimes we have a few leftoverAny recipe ideas for them? Thanks in advance for any ideas you have:)
My son's also 5 months old, and it's cool in his room too for some reasonI put him to sleep in a long sleeve onsie, a pair of fleece pj's, and a fleece sleep sac(wearable blanket)It's best not to put a blanket on him, but if you do, I would use one that is knitted or crochetted because they have holes in them, so if he pulls it over his face he will be ok.
Q:I got 6 small unique molds out of aluminum foil to bake cupcakes in, can I reuse the aluminum trays? At least twice or three times?I would of just bought more packages of 6, but their kinda expensive, it's a unique mold for a bachelorette partyHaha
Pot roast it in a couple inches of water.
Q:Like a lunch bag, pretty thinBut how safe in comparision to reciept paper, actual sticks, and pop cans?
The fiber might slow down the digestion of your vitamins but if you don't have enough time to seperate them, who cares?
Q:Why is one side of foil shinny and the other side dull?
Wiki says: Aluminium foil has a shiny side and a matte sideThe shiny side is produced when the aluminium is rolled during the final passIt is nearly impossible to produce rollers with a gap fine enough to cope with the foil gauge, therefore, for the final pass, two sheets are rolled at the same time, doubling the thickness of the gauge at entry to the rollersWhen the sheets are later separated, the inside surface is dull, and the outside surface is shinyThis difference in the finish has led to the perception that favouring a side has an effect when cookingWhile many believe that the shiny side's reflective properties keep heat out when wrapped on the exterior and keep heat in when facing exterior, the actual difference is imperceptible without instrumentation [7]The reflectivity of bright aluminium foil is 88% while dull embossed foil is about 80% [4].
Q:Could I use the cardboard that comes along with it, or would that light my house in fire? Any suggestions? Also, I don't have aluminum foil.
Go out and buy aluminum foilDo NOT use cardboardIt will catch fire It'll be messy but you can also put the pizza on the rack without anything under itDon't you have any other pans that would fit it? Even a skillet?
Q:Build a boat out of aluminum foil that can support/carry cargo. You may only use aluminum foil and glue. The boat cannot be more than 8 inches long, four inches wide, and four inches tall. The boat must float AT LEAST 500 grams.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------PLEASE HELP !
u layer sheets and glue em if u want for more strength. then u just keep folding up the sides in curves so that it looks like a boat. u will know when its enough. just keep perfecting it nd gluing it i guess. ive never made em with glue.
Q:I live in the Aurora/Naperville area
contact a metal recycling plant ,you would probably get more money if you kept the entire can and take it in that way I know for awhile people were collecting the tabs but everyone I talked to did not know were to send them in more of an urban legend same as collecting the silver paper{foil} from cigarette packaging apparently it to was suppose to be worth something.
