You will notice that the flight deck instrument lights are all on, above the pilot seat (right forward), you can see the white rectangle of a flood light, there is no window at this place. Would be a bit hard to read the checklists and cuecards, if all lights would be dimmed. ;) EDIT: I searched for more information in the Shuttle Crew Operations Manual, but it only mentions that the full cockpit lighting consumes up to 2 kW power. There is also no mentioning of any special light settings in the Landing nominal operations.

- If articifial light is used properly and you use grow lights (which emit light in the spectrum plants need most) a plant cannot tell the difference between photons coming from the sun or from a tube or bulb. Outdoors a plant might do better but it's not necessarily because of the light. They may get better temperatures or fresher air or proper moisture, etc.

- Take the lighter body out using a paper towel to hold it. Use another paper towel folded up into a square to wrap around the case to absorb any overflow if you filled it REALLY full. After removing the lighter body put the fill end onto the paper towel let it absorb some of the fluid. When you think it's absorbed enough put it back together go throw away the paper towels WASH your hands before lighting the lighter.

- Very basically house lights shine on the the audience, stage lights on the actors. There are any number of types of stage lights, the most typical being par cans. Lights that bathe the entire stage in color are generally referred to as wash lights, and lights that highlight only a part of the stage are spot lights (a moving spot light is called a follow spot). Past that you get in to ellisoidals, fresnels, moving yoke lights, and specialty lights like gobos, oils etc.

- Antique lighting fixtures are an excellent way of enhancing your home. Some very old fixtures, date back to the time of the Romans with their oil lamps. - You DO NOT want to have only 1 light in your studio. Have multiples and have different ones. Don't just buy 5 florescent lights. You should get different types of light and put them around your set. Then you can just adjust the lighting on your subject by turning the lights off or on when needed more or less light. As for color, just buy normal but strong lights. You can always put on color gels on it for color.
- Q: Scientifically is there any difference between artificial light and natural light?
- Light is light, whether it's from the sun or man-made. Although natural light is from the sun, so it will compose the whole spectrum - including visible and invisible (microwave, infrared) light.
