It's possible that the law requires you to have a company that's certified with asbestos removal come and remove it. However is anyone going to question you if you DIY? If so there could be some stiff penalties involved. If not than the other thing to consider would be to use a quality dust mask because you don't want to breath that stuff in at all..... - Q: I‘m thinking about most economical way to up grade my living and master bedroom flooring.both had laminate and had flood slab leak due to underground water pipe damage. now the pluming has fixed and everything has been taken care of. the rest of the house already got white tiles throughout. - On average , and it can vary, labor for tile ( ceramic) is almost double that of laminate.. Plus tile you have the extras for thin set and grout. Not much but it all adds up. On the plus side. tile, and I assume you mean ceramic tile will out last laminate. Get prices both ways or have them break down each room individually. - Always wipe off excess water after you bathe or shower. You can use a wash cloth and wipe off the water from the tiles. Buy a spray bottle and fill 90% water, 10% vinegar. Spray all the tiles in the shower/bath area with the water/vinegar once a week and let dry. The vinegar will not harm the grout or tiles and will eliminate mildew from growing. Bleach would be good for cleaning the tub but its not environmentally friendly. Try water/vinegar and steel wool to get the stains out. Then once a week water/vinegar and wipe clean.

- Go to a Tile Store. They now have Ceramic Tile which can be put on top of other flooring as long as the floor is level. Some of these Tiles can be snapped together. No Mud, no Grout.They look wonderful.

- There isn't a manufacturer on the planet of tile or drill bits that will ever promise total success. Somewhere will be included a disclaimer stating the obvious (Operator at risk) I use tap con bits for small holes; but even then I like to have a box of extra tiles handy. Part of the issue however; is also the SIZE of the hole/opening; you intend.
