- Q: I've had my scaffolding piercing for about a week now and when cleaning i've just dabbed the hydrogen peroxide and salt water around my ear. However i read that i should be rotating it when cleaning it. Should i rotate it after only a week?
- Do what the piercer told you to do. If they didn't say and you are concerned, ring them and ask. Personally I would say don't; the fluid that the piercing naturally leaks while healing can cake on the bar and dry into tiny but alarmingly sharp lumps. If you push these into the piercing accidentally while turning it it will really really hurt! They can also damage the newly forming tissue, delaying healing and possibly creating excess scar tissue. The bar will move naturally with the movements of your body anyway within the constraints of (sorry if you're squeamish but I can't put it any more delicately) any crusting around the bar. Just keep it clean and keep hair and face products away from it and it should be great.

- Q: If you have two workers say standing on a scaffolding, their are downward forces from the weight of the workers along with the weight of the scaffold, and upward forces from tension suspending the scaffolding in place. The opposite forces add to zero and thus the scaffolding remains at rest.My question has to do with what would occur if more/less workers were on the scaffolding. It appears to me that the scaffolding would always remain at rest. Would there always be a ΣF=0 regardless of the amount of workers? As the decreases in weight from removing a worker would also cause the tension force to be weaker? And vice versa if there were more workers?I
- You are correct so long as the scaffolding is not allowed to move. I.e. the cables suspending it are locked and not unwinding from their spools as more workers get on. More weight added would necessarily increase the tension in this type of case. However, if, when another worker got on and the tension could not increase for what ever reason, a downward acceleration would take place that is proportional to the worker's weight. Hope that clears things up.

- Q: I have some scaffolding that I would like to use to build a temporary slide to my swimming pool. The slide I would like to be made out of the side parts which are the ones like rectangles with bars going across them and I have a variety of poles. I would then like to put a slippery tarpaulin on to the frame.But how would I hold the tarpaulin up, because the metal poles will be too short? So that if someone slid down it they would not just burst through the tarpaulin and hit the floor after hitting around five metal poles!
- Why would you even consider something like that? Obviously you kids and your family use this pool, why put them at risk making a temporary slide with scaffolding. Not a good idea.

- Well, it seems you came close to answering your question. But are falls a scaffolding failure? For me failure means that the scaffolding sagged or fell - which may result in injuries with or without falling as when the failing scaffolding falls on a worker on the ground. I would think that major causes of failure as I defined it would be inadequate or failed attachments to the building and failure of ground support for the structure. Question needs to be improved to define what you need in answer and avoid conflict between question and detail.
