Q: We have clutter like the shed, playground and bricks that my mother does not want to remove. Also, we have weeds growing and tons of branches so I don't know what to do. Let alone, my mother keeps on saying landscaping is needed but she very rarely asks for a person to cut the grassand we don't have the budget to cut our two tall trees.
Bundle the branches up and tie them with string, put out with the trash if you confirm your trash removal company accepts yard waste. Once they are gone, a good raking to remove leaves and dead grass using a lawn rake, bag them up and get rid of them. Tidy up the bricks and any loose items you want to keep and stack behind the shed if possible. Once all the yard is clean, look at any high or low spots, get a few bags of topsoil from Home Depot ( $1.29 a bag) , some grass seed, and a small bag of starter fertilizer. The cost should be under $50 for everything. Use the soil in low spots, and then sprinkle the grass seed and starter wherever there is a bald spot and in the new topsoil. Water lightly but often, the idea is to wash the oily covering off the seed, but not wash the seed away. Keep it moist for a week and you will have new grass growing. Follow the directions on the seed package for proper lawn care once up.
Q: Where can I get some type of water mister for lawn and/or garden?
seriously? you mean like something you find at any home/garden store?
Q: My brother and I just got a house... ihe is 25 and I am 20 we plan on painting thee house charcoal gray and a lighter shade of grey. Their is like a really nice bay window in the frontroom and under that window on the out side of the house is a 2ft by 3ft garden... what is the best looking plant or item to grown in that spot? Oh!and please consider that the walk to the door is along that route... Please help I wanr to garden
congratulations on your home! first, you need to know what zone (gardening zone) you are in; then the amount of shade/light it gets every season. For instance if the house faces west, it would get hot afternoon sun, etc. If there is a large tree nearby it might get a lot of shade. This makes it necessary to know because some plants do well in shade, partial shade, but not in hot sun. You can easily find out your gardening zone by checking it out with the county extension office in your area or by asking a local nursery. Then you might want to visit lots of nursery's in the area and ask questions: like what plants grow well in your area, etc, and also by checking out other homes in your area what they have in their yards. If you find one that you really like, mark down the name of it; and check into it on the web. Good luck!
Q: Should every wife be tested for the golf ball through a garden hose trick?
That's the least of your worries. First You have to convince someone besides your hand to go near you long enough to be your girl friend and then not scare her away so she will marry you. So, this will probably never be an issue for you. Make the world a better place and just stick to shaking hands.
Q: I am looking for a site that allows you to input your homes dimensions and colors, then helps to plot a landscape for your home.
Better Homes and Gardens web site has a plan a garden and landscape plan design feature. You have to register - but it is free and will help you pick plants according to your climate zone. There are a few others - but I have had good luck with this site. I am a Master Gardener with Purdue and an Indiana Master Naturalist have used this site to help many people. Best of Luck!!
Q: how do you secure a green garden fence?
HI...... i recomend you go to another catagory * try Home Garden * this is Pets catagory * good luck
Q: I am looking for companies who have home decor parties. Do you nknow of any?
there's a company called home interiors. I would look them up and see if theres a representative in your local area. They can either assist you if you're looking for merchandise or if you're looking to become an consultant I'm sure they can direct you there too.
Q: I am looking to fix a relatively cheap soil test kit, most likely one that you send out to a lab for results, which will tell me if my soil is safe to plant a vegetable garden in. I have found a bunch of different soil test kits, i.e. PH, moisture, etc. but none for contaminates. Thank you for all of your help in advance !
I can only speak from experience which is slightly old now that I'm retired.......The tests for contaminants is contaminate specific, that is you must specify what contaminant you are looking for and then the appropriate test is made.......at a very high cost......$150 a pop back then. We could not do a broad screen contaminate test.....we had to have an idea first. I'd suggest you have a typical soil test done by a Laboratory and include micro nutrients such as iron, etc. Contact your Cooperative Extension agent in your county to learn about the soil test process, how to properly gather the soil and how to package and of course, how much $ to include. The agent can also help decide if the soil might have been contaminated. A simple test for herbicides is to gather some soil into two pots. In one grow lawn grass or corn and in the other grow beans. Certain herbicides work on either a monocot or dicot type plant. For example if you can't grow the bean but can grow the corn you know the soil has residual herbicide for dicots.
Q: Is this creature a pest that should be killed or is it harmless to a home and garden?
These people who are saying it's harmless or good have never had a garden. Snails will ruin your garden plants. They devour them just like bugs. Kill it before it starts multiplying.
Q: Here is a list of home and garden products that are marked down, some by 60%.
