Q:Do I need to lay backerboard before I lay tile?
Ceramic Tile Backerboards There are many types of backerboard products suitable for use with ceramic tile. We will focus on two of the more popular products: 1/2 thick, water resistant greenboard sheetrock and cementitious type ceramic tile backerboards (recommended). Subfloors We recommend that 1/4 or 1/2 thick cementitious ceramic tile backerboards be installed as an underlayment over wood subfloors. The exterior grade plywood should be at least 1-1/8 thick (5/8 minimum) in order to provide for a structurally solid, movement free foundation. In addition, the space between the joists should not exceed 16 on center. In any case, the maximum allowable concentrated deflection of your subfloor may not exceed L/360 of the span. Install backerboard using a non-modified thinset mortar and 1-1/4 screws or nails. The diy network website is a great place to go to find information about any home improvement projects....good luck!
Q:can I paint over bathroom tile?
Technically, you can paint over almost anything if you use the right product for the job. In your case, i would suggest you firstly clean the tile thoroughly and make sure they are fully dried before working on them. Then prime it with a primer which is my favourite for difficult surfaces. called X I M Its an alkyd based primer that basically seals and adhere to any surface as the base coat. Then you can basically paint any paint of your choice over it without the fear of delamination. I have even use this method on mirrors and they work fine. Since this is a bathroom, enamel paint as the top coat will be a better choice since its easier to maintain and clean. You can get This Primer at you local paint shop or you can order them online under the paint supplier links. I get mine from JANOVIC...
Q:TILE AND INITIAL VELOCITY..............................?
A roofer tosses a piece of roofing tile froma aroof onto the gound 30 feet below. He tosses the tile with an initial downward velocity of 10 feet per second. <3 CHANEL<3 1. Make an equation to find hoe long it takes the tile to hit the ground. Use, H=-16t^2+vt+h, where h is the height after t seconds, v is the inital velocity, and h is initail height. H=-16t^2+vt+h 0 = -16t² + 10t + 30 ============================= 16t² - 10t - 30 = 0 ◄ Ans ============================= 2. How long does it take to hit the ground? Quadratic formula: at² + bt + c t = [-b±√b² -4ac}/2a t = [-(-10)±√(-10)² - 4(16)(-30)]/2(16) t = [10 ±√100 + 1920]/2 t = [10 ± 44.94]/2 ======================== t = 27.47 sec ◄ Ans ======================== hope this helps Remember that Jesus loves you. Q:Ho do you redo tiles?
Go to one of those Home Depot Clinics and see if it really is something you can do. If not; find someone that knows how, and will let you work with them and charges alot less than a contractor will. And then maybe you will be able to do it next time.
Q:On stone tile:?
Using natural stone in the bath tub is not that advisable. removal of grout and stain is not a problem if the granite is well polished you know. I want to tell about one issue only which I have seen many places. You know if you compare with ceramic tiles, the natural stone is a porous material, I mean there are many invisible holes on it. The effect is that stones will absorb water and it will spread into the foor and it wil make problem if your bath is in the first floor or above. See the problem if you are on a floor above the ground floor, you will see water dripping from the bottom area of the tub. In this case, if you are particular in going with natural stone, you can make it somewhere out side the building with separate foundation.
Q:What is the best thickness of the tile?
In Wuhan decoration online network looked at: tiles are generally divided into polished tiles, antique tiles, tiles three categories. Each type according to the size of the size of the thickness of the thickness are not the same, the general 800 * 800 polished tiles in the 9mm - 12mm or so, Seiko jade in the 15--18mm or so; tiles 300 * 450,300 * 600 in general 7-10mm or so; antique brick and polished tile thickness difference is not much, each manufacturer's specific brick thickness is not the same.
Q:I want to buy tile for my kitchen how much do I get?
Multiply the length by the width of the room, and that will give you the total square footage. If you are doing it in peel back tiles, it is 12 inch, and they are called vynal stick down tiles. (so if your square footage is 400 square feet, you will need 400 tiles) It would probably be best to stick with a 12 inch tile whether you use ceramic tile or stick down. You might also consider to do floating or laminate flooring, we are doing that in our kitchen next week. The guys at Lowes can help you calculate how much you need. Laminate flooring needs a padding, but it snaps together faster, and is less mess than grout. If you kitchen floor is in good condition, you can lay laminate over it. If your old flooring is lynoleum, you could lay the padding over it and then lay the laminate flooring over that. I think it is best to remove the old flooring though. If you are doing stick down tiles, you are going to have to do a wooden under layment. Probably 1/4 inch lugan (sp?) It is really smooth. Or 1/4 inch underlayment made for stick down tiles. I think it comes in 4x4 sheets. The only way you could skip the underlayment is if the lynoluem doesn't have a pattern, and is totally smooth, because if you lay tile over old flooring it is likely to pop up over time. So you have to glue and secure the underlayment every 6 inches, with something like liquid nails or ring shanked nails for underlayment. You know it might be better to tell me what kind of flooring you are going to use and then let me take it from there. The floating flooring is the easiest to do if you don't have a lot of experience in flooring. Can you repost your question and give me more details, so I can answer better.
