Q:I have ceramic braces, and I got lime green(really looks like a mint green!) and black. It looks horrible. Any suggestions for what i can get the next time i go(which is in about a week) to the ortho.? I was thinking a blue and silver, but maybe not. Help PLEASE!

Q:I have a russian tortoise. I have been using the mercury bulbs, but for whatever reason, they only last a month at my house- it is an old house, so I am thinking to blame the currents.I just bought a CFL bulb (Exo Terra 10.0 CFL Desert Terrarium Lamp, 26-Watt ) and I bought a ceramic heat emitter (60w Zoomed) Now I just read that the heat emitters can only be used in porcelain sockets. I thought ceramic was porcelain, and don‘t know why they would be using two names of the same thing, so thought I would check if they are different. Are ceramic and porcelain sockets the same thing? And second- is it safe to use a heat emitter and a CFL bulb at the same time in ZooMed Mini combo deep dome lamp fixture? They are connected, and I am not sure if the heat of the ceramic would bust the CFL.Any suggestions? The terrarium is only about a foot high with a large hole wire mesh top, so I don‘t need extremely long range stuff by the wayThanks in advance!
ceramic fixture is fine, not sure if it's the same material as porcelain but i use ceramic for all my high temp bulbs and heat emitters (which i believe are made with ceramic) and so does the reptile zoo i work with. as far as the heat blowing up the florescent bulb i THINK you'll be ok as the majority of the heat is projected downwards but you never know. good luck M.Y.
Q:I have a statue of a black panther that is made out of porcelain or ceramic. The ear has a chip on it and I wanted to know if there was a way to repair it if I was missing the pieces. Thank you!
it has to be fixed by an sculptor 1- first he would use clay to make the chip 2-he carefully will get it out then will make a stamp 3-will use a mold to make a new chip 4- then to fasten the chip to the statue for sure he will use many kinds of materials so you can not do it yourself the final material is Epoxy glue for ceramic and black ceramic color
Q:Which plates are better for your hair? I have a ceramic plate straightener, but I am thinking of buying a titanium hair straightener? Which is better for my hair?!
Hold a blow dryer up to the spot apply heat. As the wax begins to soften, wipe it off with a plastic knife.
Q:ok so i am 13 and am going to entering this art thing at my local fair. the problem is there are 2 catorgories for ceramics and pottery but if have always thought they were the same thing. can u plz explain the differences so i can understand. can u also give me examples of what types of things go in each catagory in case im still confused thank u
are you talking about the cloth, or the rival aginst jesus? kinda confusing, i think you're talking about the cloth oh well, 2 points biotch
Q:I have fine, curly hair and I can get it straight, but not smooth and silky looking. I have a Remington T Studio Nano Silver Ceramic flat iron. Is there really a difference between cheap ones and expensive ones if they‘re all ceramic? What makes a CHI better than a Remington or a Conair for example? Is it about temperature? Is it really worth spending hundreds on one if a less expensive one will do the same thing? How are they different?
you don't want to lift it. it will increase the gap between the wheels and the fenders and make it look terrible. if you keep the suspension at the stock height and just drive carefully you won't have any problems. if you aren't willing to drive carefully over bumps, don't get the body kit.
Q:I have a small ceramic teapot / kettle with an impact crack in it, maybe a couple missing slivers. It‘s almost completely closed but the piece inside is loose.I know I could use Super Glue or other similar glues to fix it but I‘m concerned about issues such as the heat and liquid coming in contact with the glue and contamination of the tea from the glue.I have done a search but not with definitive results (too many options, most just advertising generic glues). Is there any kind of glue specifically designed for this kind of repair on cookware? It would be similar to repairing a broken mug, I presume.

Q:I am looking for an affordable, GOOD education to earn an MFA in ceramics. Preferrably on the east coast. Once earned, I would like to get a job teaching at the university level. Can anyone reccomend a good program?
NCECA, National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, would be a very good organization for you to join. They have resources and a directory you would be interested in. Each year there is a conference with workshops, lectures, demos, exhibitions and more all to do with the ceramic arts. Many colleges have representatives that have booths with info on MFA and BFA programs. Unfortunately, the next conference is spring 2011 in Tampa, FL. There are many programs on the east coast including NYS College of Ceramics Alfred University which is very well respected. Hartford Art School at University of Hartford, CT, many schools in NYC, and check out the Rochester Institute of Technology w/ it's School for American Crafts. The important thing is to find a school with professors you want to study with. Check out their work and see if it is inspiring to you. If you already have a BFA you should talk to your teachers from that program to get some input.
Q:what is it?and what does burnishing mean?
Utilitarian means something that is useful. Like a plate, bowl, etc. Burnishing refers to the process of rubbing a ceramic piece with an object such as a smooth stone or a spoon. This process makes the object super smooth and shiny.
Q:We are leaning towards Ceramic wood looking tiles as an option. On the other hand I know for a fact hardwood flooring has a greater resale value for a property. Having said that we have a dog and I know all the maintenance and cost on wood floors. We visited model houses with ceramic wood floors and it looked liked real hardwood only cold to the touch. So ceramic is more of an option for us but I just don‘t know what today‘s resale value for ceramic wood flooring. Either wood or ceramic both would be handscraped surface. Thanks
thank you! very informative and it gives me better knowledge on the topic
