- Q:Okay, so I just got ceramic braces, well just the brackets and spacers (which may I add, hurt like hell). Anyways, I have a lot of questions:1) ceramic braces are suppose to be clear right? But the ones that I have either have blue dotted lines or something or pink ones that run from the top to the bottom of the brackets. Is that suppose to be there? Or would they put rubberbands later on to cover it up.2) my orthodontist said that ceramics work faster, but every website that I checked said that it takes longer than normal metal braces.3) I‘m gonna have to get four of my teeth pulled out, they‘re going to put me to sleep, but would it start hurting after I wake up? And how long would it take for the gaps to close up? (I mean I know that it‘s different for everyone, but approximately?)4) on a scae of 1-10 how much does it hurt when you get the wire in, and for how long?thanks! :D
- 1) The lines might be temporary. When I first got mine, I had little colorful dots on them, and the ortho told me they'd brush off eventually and were only there to help remind him which brackets went on which teeth. It took a few days, but the color did come off. 2) I've never heard that ceramic braces work faster than metal, so. not so sure about that one. But it could be true. I have ceramic brackets and I'm due to get my braces off 8 months earlier than expected. That could be due to any number of factors, though. 3) If you can convince your orthodontist not to pull four teeth, do. I'm not going to ramble about it, but. If you need space, try an expander. If you have an overbite, just use elastics. Anyway, extractions will hurt when you wake up, but just pop some painkillers and you'll feel fine. The gaps, if you start getting them closed immediately, can take anywhere between a few months to a year, or longer. I had one tooth pulled (a lower incisor, so it was small) and it took about. 4-5 months to close. 4) I'd give it. a 6, maybe. Because if you keep taking painkillers, it's practically painless. Until you try eating. Eating is awful, for the first few days. Stick to soft foods and you'll be fine. Good luck with your braces! :)

- If a CHI didn't work, I have no idea what would work for you. Honestly, I'm shocked - I've never heard of a CHI not working for anyone, African-American or otherwise. Nearly all of the stylists in my salon use CHI irons on their clients. You could try a different high-end ceramic iron such as Sedu, Infrashine or GHD, but they all have similar properties to CHI and are very pricey. Perhaps give the CHI another try. Make sure your hair is clean and dry. Using a shine serum also often helps. Also, if the CHI you used has an adjustable heat setting, you may have had it on a lower setting. It takes a great deal of heat to straighten African-American hair. CHI not working that's definitely the most bizarre thing I've heard today.
