- Q:How can the new ceramic tableware be treated before it can be used?
- The newly purchased ceramic tableware can be washed in the following steps:1. soak it in hot water first, mainly to remove dirt and water soluble residue on the surface of the tableware.2. plus 4% ~ 5% of the vinegar into the water, boil into the cutlery soak 1 to 2 hours, and the purpose is to trace alkaline residue; free lead with a small amount of new ceramic tableware, can also be through this step clear.3. wash the ceramic crockery in brine for a while, so that it is not easy to break and prolong the service life.
- Q:I was thinking about painting plates as a birthday party activity (but at home, not at a pottery studio like Color Me Mine.) I‘ve been looking at ceramic bisque online, but I was wondering if you could just paint on a white ceramic dinner plate or is ceramic bisque different than a finished plate. Also, do the plates need to be fired to be food safe or is there another way to do it? I read something about using underglaze and a clear overglaze on top of it, but does that still need to be fired or does the overglaze protect you from the underglaze? If it‘s too much trouble, maybe we‘ll just paint something that isn‘t used for food, but I still want to make sure it‘s non-toxic. Also, any ideas of the cost of firing ceramics? Where is the best place to do this?
- First off you can not paint on finished plates and use them for food. The only way you can do this is on bisque, preferably stone ware. The best place to contact is Placid Ceramics. They are in Washington Pa. Phone number (724) 225 6778. If they can not provide you with bisque stone ware I am sure they will know where. When you buy green ware from a ceramic shop (not been fired yet) you pay for the slip and 10% of the cost of the mold new. i.e. 1 Qt of slip is lets say $1, the mold cost $50 new, your piece will cost you $6. When it is fired the first time it is another 10% of the mold. If you want it food safe you must use under glaze paint. This is paint designed to be fired to set it to the piece. Once the paint is set it must be over glazed, you must use a lead free glaze. (food safe). remember, each time you fire it, it is another10%. For your party you can have the bisque plates and the under glaze paint ready. Once the paint is dry it needs fired again. The food safe glaze can now be applied, and once dried fired for the last time. Your plates are now food safe.
- Q:Who has used the CHI(ceramic hairstyling iron)? I heard since it‘s ionic, its not bad for your hair, it leaves the moisture in, and it‘s good for your hair.Is that true?
- NO hair straightener is GOOD for your hairthe fact is that the all do some damage to the hair.some more than others Ceramic straighteners are supposedly better than the others currently available because they heat up and straighten the hair quickly to reduce the amount of time the heat is on your hair. Leaving in moisture in the hair is another extreme since heat removes moisture. The point is that Ceramic hair straighteners are NOT Good for the hairthey are simply LESS Bad than most other straighteners Your hair would rather be left alone
- Q:will the headers turn that blue tarnish color? Will it actually dissipate heat better? I have a 97 cobra and was told that if i wrap them then I‘m going to run into a problem with the steering shaft/linkage Thoughts?

- Looks like the copper has come to the end of it's life when it has pin holes, best to replace with new plastic pipping then you will have no build ups or scaling.
- Q:i just dont like the look of metal.heard bad things about ceramic like how it can wear down the teeth?you get more appointments checkups ,its really fragile can take longer. but less noticeable what was your experience or what have you heard?but also the in ovation c braces have less appointments checkups,are faster and gentler. They‘re like white braces but they are slightly more noticeable than the ceramic in my opinion?what do you think are ceramic braces worth it?
- In Ovation C brackets are ceramic. If used properly by an experienced and well-trained orthodontist, ceramic brackets do not wear down the teeth. Ceramic brackets from any company are going to be more fragile than metal. If you haven't already done so, you need to have an appointment with an orthodontist who can explain all your options and help you make the best decision for you. **EDIT** We don't use the In Ovation brackets in the office where I work so I can't speak from experience regarding those. With some ceramics, there is more friction so treatment can take longer. Also, even with ceramics, people are going to see that you have something on your teeth. Several of our adult patients decided on metal because they preferred that other people just know they had braces rather than wonder, what's on her teeth? Good luck with your decision.

- Q:I have an unfinished ceramics project that broke after a bisque fire (I had to glaze and fire it since it was a class project and needed a grade). I would like to repair/finish it with polymer clay(that‘s all I‘ve got at home). Is there anyway to bake the polymer clay right onto the project? If not, any suggestions on how to repair it?Thanks!
- Simple answer - yes, baking at temperature called for in polymer clay directions - usually 275F. Now read the long detailed coverage of your possible problems.

- i just took that and I'm in high school. it was way easy it just depends how skilled you are. its just basically your own work. not a lot of book work more hands on, go figure. its easy. and fun if you like making things out of clay.

- ceramic in general for curling or for straightening is better as a product. it heats up faster, it creates less static / frizzy hair, and lasts longer. hope this helps.
