Q:i just finished painting my rooms. I want that color on my ceramic lamp bases to match the theme and color of the walls. The paint i used has a primer built in would this be okay to use?
Not all paints will adhere to ceramic, even those with a built-in primer. Your best bet is to first spray the lamp base with a shellac or a pigmented shellac primer (such as Zinsser's BIN) to set up a surface that will allow the paint to adhere. Then you can paint it with any paint you like. Shellac dries within the hour, so you can prime and paint it in the same day. Clean the lamp base before painting it to get any hand oils or ambient grease off of the ceramic. Window cleaner works well for that. Use masking tape and newspaper to completely mask off the fittings and cord before you prime or paint the lamp base. And put the lamp shade in another room until your paint is dry. Recommendation: do not use a flat wall paint for your lamp base, as dirt, fingerprints, and other soils will not clean off. Use only a satin, semi-gloss, or gloss paint. It will look better too.
Q:I am trying to decorate a ceramic piggy bank. I got it from the craft store so it is white, already glazed and shiny. What is the best way to decorate? I was thinking sharpies? Paint?
sharpies will work, but there are paints which are supposed to go on glass or ceramic and you can bake them on even in a normal oven. I've used them, and they stick on even without baking very well. I think the brand I've used is vitrea, but I would think there are also others out there. You can get them in places like Michaels, Hobby Lobby and similar art/craft stores. That paint would stick on best/longest, but if you rather want to change the decoration of your piggy bank once in a while you could use different sharpies. Nail polish remover should remove the paint of the sharpies if you feel it is time to redecorate.
Q:is epoxy a ceramic?
NO. Epoxies are organic in nature while ceramics are inorganic. Ceramics are made from intensely heating up mixture of clay-like materials and earth stuff unless they become rock solids. Epoxies when dried becomes hard also but it is because of the chemical reaction of organic compounds.
Q:I‘m getting braces in a couple of months time and i was wondering what type of braces are the best. Pros and cons for both appreciated ]]
If I were you I woud metal ones because ceramic ones look really weird, like lumps on your teeth with a wire through them. I like Metal ones because you can change the bands and they just in general to mee look better. For the bands, yellow makes your teeth look yellow, white, clear and I think it was silver stain and look bad. Pastel or light colours fade and look kinda weird. The daker the colour the whiter your teeth look. I haven't had braces but I really want them so I do my stuff :) Ps, I don't know about the ceramic bracket(s) falling off :S
Q:through yahoo answers, i found out that there are no black metals in existence. even a black tungsten or titanium ring will eventually fade and tarnish. i‘ve already bought him a steel band with a blackened finish, but that‘s exactly what it turned out to be.just a finish. it‘s already beginning to fade!! (yeah, we‘re already wearing our bands! we just couldn‘t wait!!) i‘m hoping, maybe, if i buy a black ceramic wedding band with a shiny finish.it will stay that way!! we‘re getting married april 4th and hoping to give my wonderful, soon to be husband, the wedding band he deserves! thanks so much for your answers!!soon to be ricks wife, lt;3 shonda : )
My husband has a black ceramic ring. My ring is black, and simple ( I didn't want anything fancy) and my husband works with oil and all kinds of other grease and ink and god knows what else. (Air Force) He originally had a black titanium ring, but it started to tarnish and fade. We got him a ceramic ring, and it stayed black. It is easy to wipe off, it is amazing. However, it does knick like porcelain kind of if he hits something the wrong way. so he will have to be careful. Other than that, it is a wonderful ring, that actually stays black and doesnt fade.
Q:My living room and kitchen are ceramic tile. It looks like they were done at seperate times with them trying to match colors. They are slightly different in color. They are different also in the shine. The living room looks like it has a top coat on it, while the kitchen is more dull appearing. I was wondering if maybe this was done by using the wrong cleaner on it or if it just isn‘t sealed. The floor cleaner I like says not to be used on unsealed ceramic tile. I would think no one would put unsealed tile in a kitchen, but I‘m no floor expert. Can you enlighten me a bit?
If its ceramic, its glazed and doesn t need a sealerOnly your grout may need it The difference you see in the tile is of course dye lot and the glaze and sheen is never the exact same. there also could be something on them from previous owner. Hard to see from here lol If you have a spare tile to look at, hold it up and look at all 4 edges Your more than likely going to see a bit of over glazing as it goes thru the bell glazer. Any other questions you can e mail thru my avatar and check my qualifications there GL
Q:And is it true that ceramic/clear braces work slower than metal braces? xx
I dont know if ceramic is the same way. But if you can i would not get metal. Im sure theres pros and cons of each. But I personally had metal ones and they would cut the inside of my cheek up with the wire and also they didnt trim the wire enough when i went in and later that day the wire of the braces got lodged in my gum and my dad had to use pliers to get it out. That was probably the worst pain i have ever felt. And i would not recommend metal braces at all just from how terrible the metal and everything was.
Q:Ceramic or Titanium Plates?
Well Im a dude but Im pretty sure ceramic is the best!
Q:with full-ceramic crowns it is advised to use ceramic or fiber post systems instead of conventional alloy post so that the core won't reflect and cause problems with the coloring. The active post systems are way too economic but I think still golden color might be a problem. Is there a system that combined the advantages of active posts and ceramic posts? It is not necessarily to be on the market. I am asking for an assay.
No it will not hurt anything, but get the tires from hitting inner fenders. I've got 16'' wheels tires on a car that came with 13'' from factory, had them last two years.no problems.
Q:Is it okay if I run with ceramic brakes on my front end & non-ceramic brakes on my rear?
i would go with whatever is factory material for your car as ceramic pads are harder and yes last longer but if factory style rotors are not meant for ceramic pads then your going to wear out your rotors a lot faster also ceramic pads are stiffer and do not work as well cold(not really a big difference on cold braking) i believe an 07 should have ceramic as factory material as most do now my 06 sentra uses ceramic as factory and my 00 celica did as well
