- Q: i have a dynamic ip and would like to update my ip about 5-10 times a day- the cable modem is in the next room. Is there a command or way to program a command so that i can power it off and back on or even restart it from my computer instead of walking over and unplugging it?
- Your cable modem doesn't have its own IP address. Your PC that's plugged into the modem is what gets a unique IP. IP addresses are obtained on a lease that tends to use the same address until explicitly renewed or your connection goes offline for an appreciable time. If you want to change it, you can write a script (BAT file) to release and then renew your IP address (type ipconfig /? at a command prompt to learn how to use). I don't know why you want your IP to change so frequently. Your Cable provider knows exactly who is using which IP and when, so it wouldn't shield you from the RIAA/MPAA. If you are concerned about security, you're best off with a hardware router (Linksys or D-Link are 2 popular brands) that includes a firewall.
- Q: Why is my 2 Gage power cable from the battery to my amp is to hot and makes a big spark and burns the wire when you meet one end to the other end?
- Too hot means the current is very high. Probably in excess of 200 amps. I suspect there is a short in the amp, specially if you tried to connect it hot and drew a spark. That will kill a lot of electronics. .
- Q: Hi my new computer's new power supply supports voltage from 100V - 240V. But the power cable's plug that came with it does not fit my country's. My country runs on 240V and the power cable that came with it says 10A 125V on it, and I THINK it's an U.S plug.So should I be getting a new power cable with higher max voltage or just a adapter so that the plug will fit?
- if you have a computer that is made to run on lower voltage and you use a different power cord or adaptor to run a higher voltage you going to blow it up. Call the computer manufacturer and see if it is compatible to higher voltage first.
- Q: Why did my power supply entrance burn with the power cord cable the stats of my computer are: HP Compaq dx2250 Microtower PCProgram: Windows 8 32bitPowerSupply: 500w MaxGraphics Card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 550 tiWhy cause it to burn? What should I do? Change the power supply or buy a better power cord cable. The cable that burn, I bought it on OKorder for $2, I am not sure if this cause the problem, but for sure I need to buy a power supply because the entrance burn. What should I do? Is my computer stable with all this stats? What cause this to happen? Was the cheap power cord fault? I don't know, please answerThank You,
- A dodgy power cable can very easily singe or burn the power socket on the computer. In general, the lighter the cable, the more dodgy it is. $2 is nothing - I would buy a more expensive cable. The cents you save isn't worth it when your house is on fire. It's impossible to know whether your power supply or other computer components suffered any damage because of the electrical fire. You could try testing with a multimeter, but you should probably replace the power supply at a minimum.
- Q: I need to know if the power light on the amp will turn on if I don't have the RCA cables hooked up or if you have to have them hooked up just to get power to the amp? I was just wondering because I just hooked up an amp and I can't get the power to come on, and I'm pretty sure the power, ground, and remote wire is hooked up good, it's the RCA cables i'm thinking is messed up, but would the power light come on even if those wasn't hooked up?
- Most Amplfier will turn on without the rca cables, but some might not. Its really a matter of chance. =)
- Q: are there power cables or batteries? Thanks
- Some have batteries, most have power cables. None that I have heard sound good. I know it's a pain to wire speakers in but it's worth the time and effort (or cost if you have someone do it for you). Your going to have the speakers and setup for a long time, I presume. Do it right the first time and put the wires in.
- Q: Hi All, i have a star sound 1200w 4way amp which i want to use just for my sub for the meanwhile as im waiting on a monoblock, please tell me if i can install the amp without the fuse that connects straight on the power cable?? and what is the main reasons for that fuse? thanks in advance
- You could connect it without the fuse but if something shorts out your going to fry the wiring. That's fuse is there for a reason, I wouldn't recommend not using it.
- Q: My car wont start and only starts after moving power cables up and down. Im not sure what the problem is. If i slightly move it I see alittle sparking under the engine. When i manipulate the battery power cables it manipulates all the wires connecting to it so i cant pin point where the problem is. When i try to start ignition there is zero sound. When i manipulate cables it starts right up and cranks fine.
- You are not supposed to be able to move the battery cables and that's where your problem lies. Clean and tighten the battery terminals.
- Q: I am getting a new gaming computer for Christmas with a 700 watt, 12.5 AMP (I think) power supply. I have two power cords for computers on my shelf, but my dad is worried that a standard power cable won't properly power my computer. Do I need to get a more powerful cable? If so, please send a link to where I can buy one, I have been searching but only found standard ones. Thank you.
- no, you'll be fine. definitely use a good surge protector though
