- Q: Can those JML pull up bars be used on a wall that isn't brick?
- there's a video, and it's used on a regular door. reviewers all say it hasn't taken any damage / caused any to their door.
- Q: i want to build a night club but want to keep the building costs low what material could i place inbetween the plaster board and the brick walls? hmmmm had a thought you guys tell me if you think this will work ... say i had plasterboard then a 1-2 inch gap of air then corrugated pvc sheet type roofing so they reflect the sound waves away from the wall and then normal loft type insulation on the back of that im also going to angle the walls downwars slightly should also make the room look cooler if done right any other ideas would be grately appreciated :)
- I've heard that cork board is a great sound barrier and blocks out or in sounds. I've heard that it will absorb the sound.
- Q: I have some plasterers doing some work in my kithchen at the moment, and i've just had the kitchen damp proffed with injection and a roll of bitchumen membrane up to approx a metre high all round the kitchen. The plasterers have told me that the dry wall won't stick to the bitchumen membrane, so have suggested putting up a stud frame all round the kitched so that they can screw the plasterboards to the new stud frame!! Is this really necessary?? Does plasterboarding with dry wall adhesive really not stick to sheet roll's of bitchumen?? Also, they have also told me that you can't drywall with foil back boards as the adhesive won't stick to the foil....is this also true???Many thanks
- plasterboard or sheetrock is not glued to any backing. It must be nailed or screwed onto a frame. never heard of the adhesive way.
- Q: Can you wipe the cement mortar on the gypsum board?
- Can not. Need to add a layer of cement board in the gypsum board, and then you can operate the tile.
- Q: There's a substantial dent (bordering on being a deep crack/hole) in the middle of a 3 square meter piece of painted plasterboard. I need to repair it with something durable as it's in a prominent place and thus am not sure plaster will suffice. On-top of that it will need to be painted. What should I use?
- I would paint it with a flat latex paint. That will help hide some of your mistakes. Good luck!
- Q: I have just put plasterboard up in my kitchen, covering the walls behind my sink and cooker. I was going to tile behind said areas, but then didn't know if the adhesive would affect the plasterboard?Should I consider some sheet material like MDF which has a tile effect routed into it to drill on top of the plasterboard? Or maybe some vinyl tiles to just stick on top of the plasterboard?
- I think you'll be fine tiling over the plasterboard. Some friends of mine put up plasterboard in their kitchen with nonails glue and then tiled over it. It's still there. And nothing has fallen off yet.
- Q: I have a LG 32 Tv. I was wondering would you be able to put it on a plasterboard wall? If so how?
- There are probably a set of standardized mounting holes which are presently unused on the back of your TV. You need to get someone involved that can check and mark where the studs are in that wall. Then you need to decide if you want to flat mount the TV, if you want it tilted or if you want it on an articulating arm. Then go by a mounting kit which will handle a 32 LCD. The kits typically have a plate that is screwed into the back of the TV and then attaches in some way to the mount you will screw into the wall. A person with a few basic tools can do the job in a couple hours.
- Q: Hello, im currently trying to take down my bathroom ceiling but am having trouble as the plaster seems to have chicken wire through it. im slowing prizing it away from the joists but its taking ages, has anyone any advice for me? i was hoping that the plaster would be attached to slats of wood that i could rip down, but like i said it seems to have been reinforced with chicken wire . . . .
- It is attached to metal lathe and seems to be pretty tight. I wouldn't take it down unless you have to for some reason. We oftentimes laminate new wallboard over the existing plaster. Use construction adhesive on the back of the new wallboard and 3 drywall screws and screw through to the joists above. If you're almost to the point of total removal, you can use a reciprocating saw ( with proper eye and breathing protection) and run it through the wire lathe between the joists then pry down the separated pieces. In a bathroom, use moisture resistant drywall at a minimum or mold and moisture resistant.
- Q: how much to charge when putting up plasterboard. per sheet?
- The last time I paid someone to hang drywall, it was about $19 a sheet and included finishing. That is in the state of NC. Probably lower now with the economy.
